Daily Inspiration: Meet Kimberly Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Williams.

Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a passionate educator, wellness advocate, and emerging researcher whose work blends science, sound, and spirituality.

I hold a Bachelor’s in Physical Education and Health and a Master’s in Exercise Science from Auburn University, and recently earned my Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Health and Wellness.

As a dedicated high school science teacher, I bring evidence-based wellness practices into real-world environments. My doctoral research focused on the use of crystal quartz singing bowls (CQSB) to reduce stress in high-pressure professions. In a quasi-experimental study, I found that a 15-minute CQSB sound bath produced statistically significant stress reduction among K–12 public school teachers in Georgia, highlighting the value of short, accessible wellness interventions (U = 56.00, p = .019, Cohen’s d = 0.77).

I was trained by Monique Mead, an internationally acclaimed violinist, educator, and innovator in music and healing. Mead, Director of Music Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, pioneered student-led sound bath programs and developed SonicScore, the first notation system for singing bowls. Through Mead’s Sound Practitioner Certification program, Dr. Williams mastered evidence-based sound therapy techniques designed to promote mental clarity, emotional balance, and holistic wellness.

Beyond the data, Dr. Williams’ journey with sound has been deeply spiritual. As a Christian, she shares that working with sound bowls has strengthened her walk with God, allowing her to quiet external distractions and tune into His presence more fully. For her, sound therapy is not a replacement for spirituality; it is a tool to deepen connection, worship, and clarity in God’s presence.

Through her research and personal experience, Dr. Williams created her business to bring sound therapy into the lives of others. Her sessions are designed to help clients reduce stress, gain mental clarity, and reconnect to their sense of purpose, supported by both science and Spirit.

Her broader research interests explore how vibrational sound therapy may improve athletic performance and support neurological healing in patients recovering from brain injury or coma, always guided by compassion, curiosity, and faith.

“Through sound, I’ve learned to hear more clearly the still, small voice of God. My goal is to help others reconnect to His peace, presence, and purpose, supported by both science and Spirit.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to building my sound therapy business has not always been smooth, but it has been deeply rewarding. I have faced challenges typical of starting a wellness practice, from finding the right training and building credibility to translating my research into practical, accessible services. Despite these obstacles, people have organically found me and stepped into my life, supporting my business in meaningful ways. Their trust, encouragement, and referrals have helped my practice grow naturally, affirming that the work I do is both needed and valued.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a wellness advocate, educator, and sound therapy practitioner specializing in crystal quartz singing bowls (CQSB). I am most proud of completing my doctorate and founding Connecting Clarity, a practice dedicated to helping others heal and find mental and emotional clarity.

I am one of the first researchers to examine the effects of CQSB on stress reduction, combining my doctoral research with professional training under sound healing pioneer Monique Mead. This unique combination allows me to implement sound therapy with both scientific rigor and practical effectiveness.

My work is known for integrating evidence-based methods, spiritual practice, and personalized guidance. What sets me apart is the ability to deliver transformative experiences that are both measurable and meaningful, helping clients reconnect with themselves, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of purpose.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I view risk as an essential part of growth and discovery. For me, taking calculated risks means stepping into the unknown with intention and faith, knowing that even challenges can lead to valuable learning and opportunities. One major risk I took was leaving the familiar structure of my long teaching career to start Connecting Clarity, my sound therapy business. It required investing time, energy, and resources into something that was untested in my own life, but I felt called to share the benefits of sound therapy with others.

Another risk was pursuing my doctorate while managing full-time work and personal responsibilities. Balancing rigorous research, teaching, and professional development demanded persistence and courage, but it ultimately allowed me to contribute new knowledge to the field as one of the first researchers studying crystal quartz singing bowls.

I don’t take risks lightly, but I approach them with preparation, faith, and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. I’ve found that the most meaningful rewards, personal growth, impact on others, and the fulfillment of my purpose, often come from stepping beyond comfort zones.
