Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Endeley
Hi RUTH, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been a natural organizer and connector. Long before I officially became an event planner, I was the person everyone turned to for recommendations. Whether it was finding the best cake, ordering decorations, or choosing a reliable vendor, I was always the go-to person. If I loved something—a cake, a hairstylist, a decorator—I made sure everyone around me knew about it.
During my 11 years working in the banking industry, I was constantly organizing office parties and special celebrations. Outside of work, I planned kids birthdays, helped friends with their events, and even designed party setups just for the fun of it. One day, I realized I was spending hours on the phone coordinating vendors and planning events without making a business out of it. That’s when it hit me—why not monetize something I was already passionate about?
That decision changed everything. What started as a personal passion became a thriving career in event planning. Today, I get to do what I love—creating memorable experiences, bringing people’s visions to life, and making celebrations seamless and stress-free. Looking back, I realize that sometimes, our true calling is right in front of us—we just have to recognize it and take the leap.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve always believed in teamwork and the power of strong team bonding. I enjoy bringing people together to collaborate efficiently, which has been a huge advantage in my journey as an event planner. During my master’s program, I studied people management, which gave me valuable skills in handling different personalities, resolving conflicts, and ensuring smooth coordination.
Additionally, my experience as a leader in my previous workplace helped me develop the ability to manage teams effectively. Because of this, I didn’t face many of the common struggles that new business owners encounter. I understood early on that success in event planning isn’t just about creativity—it’s about managing people, working with vendors, and leading a team to execute a vision seamlessly.
Of course, every event comes with its unique challenges, but my leadership background has allowed me to handle them with confidence and adaptability. Instead of seeing obstacles, I see opportunities to learn and improve, which has made my journey both fulfilling and rewarding.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
“My professional journey began in the banking industry, where I worked as a Priority Banking Officer for one of Nigeria’s reputable banks for 11 years. During this time, I developed strong client relationship management skills, financial expertise, and a deep understanding of customer service—skills that would later prove invaluable in my entrepreneurial journey.
Driven by my passion for continuous growth, I pursued a master’s degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, which expanded my knowledge in procurement, logistics, and strategic sourcing. After completing my master’s, I returned to the banking sector, where I gained experience in branding, collaborations, and effective purchasing. I also worked as a Mortgage Underwriter, further strengthening my analytical and decision-making skills.
Currently, I work as a Scrum Master, a role that has enhanced my leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Being a Scrum Master requires adaptability, collaboration, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts—qualities that align perfectly with event planning. My background in corporate leadership, supply chain management, and agile project execution has helped me seamlessly transition into the world of event planning, where I now combine structure, creativity, and execution to deliver exceptional experiences.”**
What’s next?
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue growing and evolving in both my professional and entrepreneurial journey. In event planning, I want to expand my brand, take on larger-scale events, and possibly venture into international event management. I see myself creating a premium event experience where creativity meets seamless execution, ensuring that every event I handle is unique and unforgettable.
Beyond event planning, I also see opportunities to merge my background in banking, supply chain management, and leadership into something bigger—whether it’s launching a consulting service, mentoring aspiring event planners, or building a platform that connects clients with the best vendors effortlessly.
I’m also passionate about leadership and teamwork, so I envision hosting workshops and training sessions to help others develop strong management and collaboration skills. Ultimately, I want to create impact, continue learning, and position myself as a leader in both the event industry and beyond.
While I may not have every detail mapped out yet, I’m excited for the journey ahead and ready to embrace new opportunities that align with my skills and passion
