Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethaney Embry Jones
Hi Bethaney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Originally from Alabama, I am the youngest of four siblings. From a young age, I knew I wanted to become a lawyer. Growing up, I spent time watching cases in the courthouse where my mother worked, which solidified my passion for the legal field. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Spelman College before earning my law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
I graduated from law school in 2008—one of the most challenging years to enter the job market. With persistence and strategic networking, I connected with the judge who offered me my first full-time legal position. I had the privilege of working as a staff attorney under Judge Tangela Barrie in DeKalb Superior Court, gaining invaluable experience in the legal system.
During that time, my mother was involved in a car accident, and I took on the responsibility of handling her case. This experience was a turning point for me. I founded my own law firm while working on her case to ensure I would be taken seriously as an attorney. Successfully advocating for her inspired me to continue helping others in similar situations.
In 2014, I transitioned to working full-time for myself, focusing on family law, personal injury, and adoption law. Over the years, my firm has evolved to specialize exclusively in personal injury, with select pro bono adoption cases. The past decade has been an incredible journey, and I am excited for the future as we continue to fight for justice and serve our clients with dedication and compassion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey of building and growing my firm has not been completely smooth—like any business, it has come with its challenges. One of the most difficult aspects has been finding the right team—individuals who not only align with my vision, but also share my commitment to advocating for our clients with integrity and compassion. I feel incredibly blessed to have the dedicated team I have today.
Beyond that, the fight for justice is never easy. Battling insurance companies that refuse to do what is fair, delivering difficult news to clients about inadequate coverage, and standing out in a competitive field filled with firms making lofty promises—all of these obstacles have tested my resilience. But through it all, my purpose has remained clear: to provide unwavering support and expert guidance to those who need it most.
Every challenge has shaped my firm into what it is today, and I am grateful for the lessons, the growth, and the opportunity to continue making a real difference in people’s lives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Embry Law Firm ?
At The Embry Law Firm, we distinguish ourselves by delivering tangible results and upholding a standard of excellence in all that we do. Unlike many firms where clients may feel like just another case number, we prioritize personalized attention and open communication. As the founding attorney, I ensure that I am accessible to my clients, providing direct interaction rather than routing you through automated systems.
Our firm is dedicated to guiding clients through every step of the legal process, whether it’s filing insurance claims, negotiating settlements, or taking cases to trial. We specialize in personal injury matters. Our primary goal is to protect your legal rights and secure the compensation you deserve.
Beyond my role as an attorney, I am a devoted wife and mother, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Incorporated. My commitment extends beyond the courtroom, as I strive to make a positive impact in my community through service, advocacy, and mentorship. I am not your average attorney—I am deeply invested in both the personal well-being of my clients and the betterment of the community we share.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is ensuring that my clients not only receive the justice they deserve, but also have the opportunity to heal—physically, emotionally, and financially. My ultimate goal is to see them rehabilitated, or at the very least, feeling better so they can return to their lives with a sense of normalcy and stability.
Beyond my work in the courtroom, my community holds a special place in my heart. At The Embry Law Firm, we are committed to giving back through scholarships, giveaways, and various initiatives that support those in need. Whether it’s empowering students through education or providing resources to families, we believe in using our platform to uplift and strengthen our community.
