Today we’d like to introduce you to Malikah Jalil.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Ma’Likah Jalil, and I’m the owner of GH Boutique Salon in Austell, Georgia, and the founder of Glitter Housse Boutique, a luxury hair brand specializing in raw Southeast Asian and Brazilian hair extensions. I’ve been passionate about beauty and hair since I was young, and what started as a skill I used to support myself and my daughter turned into a full-fledged business and a dream come true.
After graduating from cosmetology school, I began working immediately to build a name for myself in Atlanta’s competitive beauty scene. Over time, I gained a loyal clientele through word-of-mouth and consistency, all while developing my signature approach luxury experiences at affordable prices.
Today, my salon is more than just a place to get your hair done. It’s a creative hub where women can feel beautiful, confident, and empowered. I focus on providing high-quality services like custom wigs, sew-ins, silk presses, and color transformations all while offering on-hand hair extensions and lace products for same-day purchases.
As a mother, entrepreneur, and visionary, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about what’s next. My mission is to build a brand that inspires other women especially mothers and young stylists to know that you can start from anywhere and create the life you dream of through hard work, faith, and consistency.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I first started doing hair, confidence was definitely one of my biggest challenges. Everyone around me was focused on wigs, lace fronts, and baby hairs, and I had to figure out what really fit me. I eventually realized my lane was quick weaves and sew-ins that’s where I felt most creative and confident. People used to bring me pictures of arrogant Tae’s work, and I had to remind myself that I didn’t need to be the next him I needed to be the best version of me. I didn’t even like doing baby hairs at first! But I stayed consistent, mastered my craft, and learned how to make every client feel beautiful in my own way.
One of my biggest sacrifices was balancing school, motherhood, and building my clientele. I was in cosmetology school full time, so I could only take clients after 5 PM. That meant missing bedtime some nights or coming home late, but I knew the grind would be worth it in the end. I kept reminding myself that I was building something bigger — not just for me, but for my kids and our future.
Opening my salon came with its own set of challenges — from budgeting to staying consistent to literally hustling in every way possible to make ends meet. I took every client I could, worked long hours, and even found ways to make extra money outside the salon just to keep things going. I thank God and my fiancé for supporting me through it all, because that foundation helped me build GH Boutique from the ground up.
If I could give advice to another young woman chasing her dream, I’d tell her this: stay patient — it doesn’t happen overnight. Stay consistent, even when you don’t feel motivated. Don’t let your mood dictate your mission. Stay prayed up, stay in your own lane, and remember that it’s not a race. Your time will come if you don’t quit.
We’ve been impressed with GH Boutique Salon, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called GH Boutique, located in Austell, Georgia. It’s both a luxury salon and hair extension brand that offers an elevated, personalized beauty experience for every woman who walks through our doors. We specialize in raw Southeast Asian and Brazilian hair, as well as custom wigs, HD closures, and natural-looking sew-ins and quick weaves. GH Boutique isn’t just a salon it’s a full experience. From the quality of our extensions to the energy and professionalism inside the shop, everything is designed to make clients feel beautiful, confident, and taken care of.
What sets GH Boutique apart is our authenticity and consistency. I built this brand from the ground up with a focus on quality over trends I’m known for natural installs, healthy hair maintenance, and providing top-tier extensions that last. I’ve been working with my vendors for over five years, so when clients buy hair from GH Boutique, they’re investing in something tested, trusted, and true. I also pride myself on running a salon that feels like community where women can come, unwind, and walk out feeling like the best version of themselves.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how far we’ve come. From starting out as a single stylist to now owning a storefront that sells hair, offers professional services, and hosts events, it’s truly been a journey of growth and faith. GH Boutique represents grace, hustle, and elevation and I want readers to know that our doors are open not just for beauty, but for inspiration.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There are so many ways people can work with or support GH Boutique. For clients, the best way to support is by booking an appointment Or For other beauty professionals, I’m always open to collaborations, pop-ups, and brand partnerships especially those that empower women in business or highlight beauty, confidence, and entrepreneurship. I also love connecting with photographers, makeup artists, and other stylists for creative shoots and content projects that align with my brand’s luxury aesthetic.
Most importantly, people can support by simply sharing our posts, telling a friend, or stopping by the salon to experience what GH Boutique is all about. Every repost, referral, and conversation helps our business grow.
