Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramces Rouzard.
Hi Ramces, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In/The/Mirror LLC. is a film & entertainment company based in Orlando, Florida. In/The/Mirror produces original content such as tv shows in addition to serving a global client base by providing a variety of media and production services.
I Founded in 2017, by myself, as Haitian-American. — In/The/Mirror was created to bring experiences to life, whether through the screen or at in-person events that we host. Thus, our business motto, “Your Experience Matters!” Through this lens, we produce a weekly online talk show called “The Reflection Show” highlighting individuals’ unique and inspiring stories through conversation. We also create fresh content and offer media production needs for individuals and businesses across the country and internationally, spanning from promotional videos to film documentaries to hosting live red carpets events, corporate fundraisers, or weddings.
As a self-taught, one-man media band, I have used my business skills and network to cultivate a talented team of videographers, editors, entertainers, photographers, graphic artists, and other key production specialists. Many of these individuals, at times, have worked in the volunteer capacity to assist me in producing a new project or completing one on behalf of a client. However, it is my goal to obtain the capital investment needed to grow the number of full-time staff positions and purchase more production equipment to expand our services as well as meet our demand.
Growing up in the rural town of Immokalee, Florida, made up of mostly farmland, I watched my parents and other Haitian immigrants work the land most or all of their lives because they could not speak the language or did not have the education to seek other types of jobs. From an early age, I was forced to look inward and start finding my place in the world. Most black boys my age played sports — football in particular, and were encouraged to become better and stronger at it. They believed or were taught to believe that was their best bet toward a ticket out of Immokalee. But I played sports to stay out of trouble and worked at an early age. I sang well in church, learned to lead the choir, and fell in love with writing music, etc. I spoke loudly, loved to write, sing, entertain, and just make other people happy! But there weren’t outlets for children like me where I was from.
I knew early on that I wanted to work for myself. I held full-time jobs while I built my business until one day, I finally took the leap of faith and put both feet into building In/The/Mirror full-time. I had always been told that I had a big personality and voice and loved to talk! But beyond my own personality or aspirations, I wanted to bring other voices forward, both in front and behind the cameras. That meant sharing the stories of those untold on camera while employing and developing talent behind the scenes. I try my best to do this by providing opportunities where there aren’t many, especially for people who look like myself or may come from a place of limited opportunities to be their greatest selves. That is why I started my business and that is why I continue to mentor young people and men to this very day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve struggled in so many ways! Coming from Immokalee, Florida, I wasn’t exposed to structural or creative entrepreneurship. I was exposed to hard work. So when I felt like I was failing, I turned to working harder. Eventually, I turned my ear to finding mentors and that taught me the value of working smarter not harder. However, no one gave me the blueprint to becoming an entrepreneur. I took time out to seek God’s word, fast and pray. That increased my faith. I’m also grateful for those who’ve come along during this journey to inspire me. They know who they are. I could name a few my wife Jennifer Rouzard, Pierre Alex Jeanty, Adonal Foyle, Darrin Thurman, my pastor David S Jacques, my best friend Joshua Washington, my brother Wiselet Rouzard, my sister Yviania Desir and so many more. Some of these voices helped cultivate the creative entrepreneur I am done.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
