Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakera (KIKI BLACK) Matthews.
Hi Shakera, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in fitness and wellness from a very personal place. I was navigating a season of divorce, identity shifts, and deep self-reflection, and fitness became more than just physical for me—it was mental, emotional, and eventually spiritual. Over time, I realized that many women weren’t just struggling with their bodies, but with confidence, relationships, boundaries, and knowing who they were becoming.
That’s what led me to create Feminine & Fit—a holistic approach that blends fitness, femininity, mindset, and personal responsibility. Since then, my life has evolved alongside the work: I became a wife, a mother, relocated internationally, and continued building a business that supports my life instead of consuming it. Where I am today is really the result of lived experience—learning, unlearning, rebuilding, and choosing alignment over perfection—and that’s what I now help other women do in their own lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road. There were a lot of uncomfortable seasons—personally and professionally. I went through a divorce, had to confront my own patterns in relationships, and rebuild my confidence from the inside out. There were moments where I had to unlearn beliefs about independence, control, and what it really means to be healthy—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
On the business side, I faced inconsistency, burnout, and the pressure to constantly perform online while still being human behind the scenes. And becoming a mother added another layer—learning how to lead, build, and serve without abandoning myself or my family.
The biggest struggle, honestly, was choosing growth over comfort. But those challenges shaped the work I do now and gave me the empathy and clarity to guide other women through similar transitions.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The name of my business is Feminine & Fit. It’s a holistic wellness and personal development brand that helps women strengthen their mind, body, and identity—with a focus on fitness, emotional intelligence, femininity, and healthy relationships.?
Feminine & Fit is a holistic wellness and personal development brand designed to help women strengthen their mind, body, and identity. While fitness is a core entry point, what we really specialize in is integration—helping women align their physical health with emotional intelligence, femininity, discipline, and healthy relationship dynamics.
What sets Feminine & Fit apart is that we don’t separate personal growth from real life. We address the things many programs avoid—identity, accountability, emotional regulation, boundaries, femininity, marriage, motherhood, and faith—while still providing practical tools like workouts, meal guidance, mindset training, and community support. Everything we teach is rooted in lived experience, not theory.
We’re known for being honest, grounded, and transformational without being extreme or performative. The brand doesn’t shame women, but it also doesn’t coddle them. We believe growth requires both compassion and responsibility, and that femininity is not weakness—it’s strength, order, and intentional living.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the community. Women don’t just join to lose weight or “level up”—they stay because they’re becoming more self-aware, more disciplined, more peaceful, and more aligned in their lives and relationships.
What I want readers to know is that Feminine & Fit isn’t about perfection or aesthetics—it’s about becoming a woman who is healthy, grounded, emotionally intelligent, and prepared for the life she says she wants. Whether a woman is single, married, or a mother, our work is about helping her show up with clarity, confidence, and integrity in every area of her life.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as alignment. It’s when your values, your daily actions, and the life you’re building actually match. Success isn’t just achievement or visibility—it’s peace, integrity, and sustainability.
For me, success looks like having a healthy body, a clear mind, strong relationships, and work that supports my life instead of competing with it. It’s being able to grow, provide, and serve without sacrificing my faith, my family, or my well-being.
If the external wins are there but you’re disconnected, exhausted, or out of integrity, I don’t consider that success. True success is being able to stand in who you are—publicly and privately—and feel at peace with the life you’re creating.
