Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Krause.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Myself (Bryan) and my business partner Kyung have been best friends for over 30 years. In 2004, he opened a nutrition store, and I followed suit shortly after. After gaining the necessary experience in the industry, we founded FINAFLEX in 2008. We started with one product, our namesake, FINAFLEX, with only a $13,000 investment. 13 years later, the brand has grown and evolved to include partnerships with retailers such as Walmart, selling over 3 million units of our most popular product, the Oatmeal Protein Pie.
We are fortunate enough to be category leaders within our industry due to the valuable relationships that we’ve nurtured over these years. These partnerships have lead to the humbling prosperity that we’ve experienced.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Business is about overcoming obstacles and navigating adversity on a daily basis. Murphy’s Law becomes a hard-standing truth when you’re operating a business. We’ve learned to be prepared for anything because the speed of business is dynamic and ever-changing. In our experience, adversity and uncertainty have created opportunity.
Take the recent COVID-19 pandemic as an example. When many businesses in our industry were struggling, we got to work adapting and overcoming. We were the first company within our industry to step up and start producing hand sanitizer. In our experience, what defines a business is not what challenges they face but how you react to the situation. We’ve learned this lesson through the trials and tribulations that we’ve overcome.

FINAFLEX is dedicated to the advancement of healthy snacks and lifestyle supplements. Our local, minority-owned company has grown from a small operation producing only one product to an international category leader in the nutritional realm.
FINAFLEX is known for our quality and innovation. These values are exemplified through the Oatmeal Protein Pie. This healthy snack has revolutionized protein snacks and fulfilled a unique white space in some of the world’s biggest retailers, such as Walmart. The response to this launch has been overwhelming in the best of ways and has positioned us to expand further into the mass market.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
We’ve built this business on perseverance, think about it, we founded FINAFLEX during the Great Recession! We’ve had to lean on this value to achieve what we’ve built today. We sought to revolutionize this industry, and that takes a lot of hard work and determination. The success that we’ve achieved was curated the old-fashioned way, with blood, sweat, and tears.
