It all started at Clark Atlanta University, where I planned student events just for fun for my sorority and campus organizations. I was volunteering, coordinating venues, juggling schedules and loving every second of it. The joy of turning ideas into unforgettable experiences lit a fire in me.
I’ve always been LockedIn, once I’m assigned a job, it’s full focus, full heart, full drive. That mindset is exactly how my business got its name… a reflection of my last name, my determination, and the passion I bring to every event.
Years passed, I was full steam ahead with my career in Finance and family but still doing events for fun! What began with helping friends grew into planning weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and milestone celebrations. I dove into budgeting, vendor management, creative design, logistics — every detail mattered.
But here’s the part most people don’t see: I was building LockedIn Events while working a full-time job. I was hesitant at first, wondering if I could really balance both. But I told myself, “I’m going to make it work.” And I did.
Late nights, early mornings, weekends filled with client meetings and event prep — I stayed committed. Because I know one day, this won’t be my side hustle. It’ll be my full-time reality.

Of course not! Starting a business is rarely easy. It demands persistence, adaptability, and a whole lot of faith. When I launched my event planning company, I had no idea how many hats I’d end up wearing, not just as a business owner, but as a mother, wife, Room Parent, Team Mom, and so many other roles that fill my days and stretch my energy.
There were times I scheduled consultations and went months without a single inquiry. I’d sit with my planner, staring at empty pages, and ask myself, “Is it worth it, Michelle?” The silence was deafening. The doubt was real.
But I learned to redirect my energy. I hit reset, not just on my calendar, but on my mindset. I had to shift from frustration to focus, from fear to faith. Mental toughness, resiliency, and optimism became my lifelines. I reminded myself that no one builds a multimillion-dollar company overnight. Every mistake taught me something. Every slow season built my strength.
I started celebrating the small wins, a new lead, a successful event, a kind word from a client. I stayed consistent, goal-oriented, and committed to my vision. I cast out doubt and leaned into purpose. And slowly, success began to show up.
