I like to thank VoyageATL for interviewing me for the second time. It’s such a privilege to be featured again and to reflect on how far the agency has come since our last conversation.
Of course. My story really begins when I decided to leave everything familiar behind and start a new life in the United States. Being an immigrant came with so many emotions — excitement, fear, hope, and uncertainty all at once. I arrived with a dream and a strong belief that if I worked hard and stayed true to my values, I could build something meaningful here.
In the beginning, it wasn’t easy. I had to learn the culture, the language, and how things worked here — all while trying to build a career. There were days when I questioned myself and wondered if I had made the right decision. But deep down, I knew giving up wasn’t an option.
I found my calling in the insurance world because it gave me a chance to help others feel secure and supported — something I craved when I first came here. I started from scratch, studying, getting licensed, and learning everything I could. It took long hours, patience, and faith, but step by step, I built a business based on honesty, care, and trust.
Now, more than ten years later, I’m proud to look back and see how far I’ve come — not just professionally, but personally. Every challenge taught me resilience, every client became part of my extended family, and every success reminded me that dreams do come true when you refuse to quit.
My journey as an immigrant and insurance agent isn’t just about business — it’s about believing in yourself even when no one else does, and turning obstacles into stepping stones toward something greater.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced my fair share of challenges — from self-doubt in the early stages to financial and creative hurdles as I tried to build something authentic. One of the biggest struggles was learning to balance passion with practicality — figuring out how to turn my vision into something sustainable without losing the heart of what I do.
There were moments when things felt uncertain, but every setback taught me something important — patience, adaptability, and the importance of trusting my voice even when it wasn’t the loudest in the room. Looking back, I’m grateful for the challenges because they shaped the person and creator I’ve become.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always curious, independent, and driven. I loved connecting with people — whether it was helping friends solve problems, organizing little projects, or finding creative ways to make things better. I’ve always had a strong sense of responsibility and a genuine desire to help others, even at a young age.
I was the kind of kid who asked a lot of questions and liked to understand why things worked the way they did. That curiosity turned into a love for learning and personal growth. Over time, I realized how much fulfillment I get from supporting others — helping them feel understood, prepared, and confident — which is a big part of why I was drawn to building my own agency.
Looking back, the same traits that defined me as a child — empathy, determination, and a strong work ethic — still guide me today. They’ve shaped not only who I am as a person but also the culture and values behind Negar Farah Agency.
