Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaune Huysamen
Hi Shaune, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2014 I had a professional bicycle fit done by another bike shop south of the city. A couple of months later the owner of the store reached out to me and asked if I was interested in buying some of the things inside the store since he was shuttering the business. I jumped at the opportunity and bought out his whole service side of his business, tools etc. with the intention of building out a shop in one of my garages and converting it to a proper service area for what was at the time my hobby. Never thought anything more of it.
In 2016 my mom called and mentioned that there was this cute building for lease in downtown Crabapple. I called the number from the sign and spoke to the owner who then agreed to show it to me and eventually lease it to me. At the time of this phone call I had no real clear idea of what I was going to do with the space as I had a corporate job in commercial real estate.
Six months later Whitetail Bicycles and Coffee was born.
Fast forward to 2025 where along with my partner, Judy we now own 2 coffee shops and a bike shop and expanded the business to a much bigger space within the City of Milton and planning on opening another later this year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been some rough patches along the way, from a down bicycle market at the beginning of this venture to greedy landlords. Hard work and dedication can overcome a lot of things in life. The saying “if it was easy everyone would it” could not ring more true.
As you know, we’re big fans of Whitetail Bicycles and Coffee. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We were the first bicycle shop in Georgia to mix our two passions, bicycles and espresso under one roof as well as offering local craft beer on tap.
We are known for our bespoke bicycles and have customers travel from all over the Southeast for us to build them a custom bike. We also take great pride in our coffee and ingredients we use to produce the best espresso and coffee drinks in town.
Branding is so important to us and the Whitetail brand have morphed into a brand that’s not just synonymous with high end bikes and coffee but also a brand people want to be a part of and having such a strong community behind us is truly a blessing.
It’s a lifestyle…
