Hi Sheylon and Sandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello! We are Sheylon and Sandra, sisters and Co-Founders of Ginsation™ Ginger Beverage. Our creation came about when Sandra became pregnant with her first child. This resulted in her having a weaker immune system, extreme nausea and digestive issues that made it hard to stomach anything. This continued throughout her entire pregnancy. Whoever said morning sickness ends at month four they lied!
Sandra searched for Ginger based teas, drinks, candy chews, and treats to help alleviate her nausea and digestive issues but was left unsatisfied and feeling worse because of all the additives and high sugar levels. When Sheylon came home to California to visit, she made me a ginger drink that she said she always drinks. I was amazed! The drink was not only awesome, but all-natural, low sugar, and tasted good. I could actually feel the heat of the ginger. It soothed my throat and my stomach. I immediately felt better than with anything I had already tried on the market. She made a batch for me to have later and even made different flavors so I wouldn’t get bored with one thing. We enjoyed our recipes for many years until one day, it dawned on us that this is something that we needed to share with the world. Little did we know, this would begin our journey to developing Ginsation™ Ginger Beverage.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets Ginsation™ apart is most beverages on the market today add ginger as a flavor but in Ginsation™, ginger is the main component of our beverage. We created Ginsation Ginger Beverage in the spirit of wanting to feel, taste and experience the natural potency of ginger. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for either of us. Life has come with many roadblocks, bumps and detours. Being women of God, our faith has helped us overcome many challenges and obstacles that have helped us evolve into the motivated women we are today. We all “say” we want to live abundant and adventurous lives, but what happens when the opportunity actually presents itself. It was our faith in God that gave us the confidence in March 2020 to fully commit to this journey in the beverage industry during a world shut down because of the Coronavirus. One of our biggest challenges has been financing the business. The beverage industry is very expensive. Also, learning a new industry that we knew absolutely nothing about has been challenging. Sandra has a career in Regulatory Affairs and Sheylon has a background teaching High School Algebra and also being a Bar Industry Expert.
Sandra oversees the Strategy side of our business and Sheylon is head over all Operations. Our company, The Good Root Goodies, Inc. launched in November 2020. We are rooted in building a Food & Beverage company that creates natural products which contribute to the physical and spiritual well-being of all people.
