Today we’d like to introduce you to Tsani Merriweather
Hi Tsani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My passion for wellness has driven my career for over two decades, primarily in corporate managed healthcare. I discovered my calling in 2019, while helping create a healing spaces for an Atlanta based sexual wellness & education conference. Initially, I never saw how this would translate into a full-time career; however, the program blossomed over the years and so did my desire to be more impactful in work spaces. This led to a rewarding experience where I felt I could truly make a difference for both attendees and healers. After five years of managing this healing space, something shifted. A pivotal moment came in November 2023 after attending a full day company conference, and returning home exhausted. The need for more rest and healing spaces became apparent. I realized that I wanted to create more of these restorative spaces for people attending all types of conferences. This insight, combined with my own experiences as a lifelong attendee, led to the launch of The Healer’s Lounge in March 2024.
The Healer’s Lounge is designed to provide respite and rejuvenation anytime, anywhere. It’s more than just a job—it’s a way to connect with others on a deeply personal level, fostering inner peace. I’m thrilled and honored to make a positive impact on people attending conferences, events, and meetings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a solopreneur is a challenging but rewarding journey, not for the faint of heart. I don’t enjoy the constant ups and downs, but I’m passionate about my work, so I’m embracing the ride. Transitioning from a partnership to a sole proprietorship with part-time virtual assistance has been a steep learning curve. Limited capital and promoting The Healer’s Lounge without a strong social media presence (yet) and marketing dollars are significant challenges, but the growth potential is immense. My initial funding has been less than ideal, so being strategic about marketing, networking and operational planning continues to be key for gaining business opportunities. While each day presents a certain level of anxiety, I’ve found my resilience and ability to accomplish more by utilizing resources and confidently sharing the value of The Healer’s Lounge with existing clients and collaborators will prove to make us the one to seek for mobile rest and healing spaces.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Healer’s Lounge. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I love this question because I never feel comfortable bragging about myself. I usually say, people just have to know me. Today, I say that I’m a Wellness Events Strategist. What I do with The Healer’s Lounge is very niche as we create rest and healing spaces for conferences, events, business meetings and corporate entities. Prioritizing well-being is crucial, and collaboration with like-minded individuals ensures organizational values are upheld on both sides. So, as a Wellness Events planner, I get to combine my many loves…interior decorating, professional cuddling, massage therapy, reading, REST and MINDFULNESS. I am also a Wedding Officiant so everything I do begins and ends in love. I am known for my calm demeanor and giving the absolute best healing hugs. I love things that are aesthetically pleasing, inviting, warm and transformational, which is always the goal of curating a Healer’s Lounge. Knowing me and being in my personal or work space where I also see private clients is an experience. I am most proud of finally transitioning to a full-time business owner with a business that will provide more support to those that really need it in business and networking spaces. I was a corporate employee for almost 30 years. I know first hand what it feels like trying to manage work and rest successfully. It is not easeful. We are different and our vision is bold because we wholeheartedly believe that work and rest can co-exist, anywhere, anytime and it is accessible to everyone. We create space where we are needed!
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
For both mentorship and networking, I keep the 3 C’s in mind…Connection, Communication and Collaboration. I keep in mind that everything I do is about building relationships that are built on mutual respect and I think of ways we can share interests and collaborate. Keeping the communication open, honest and consistent is very helpful in sustaining and growing the relationships. I am intentional about asking lots of questions that help with my development. In terms of finding a mentor, it’s up to me to be proactive and strategic in who I seek out. I prepare myself to be clear in what I’m asking for, open to receiving valuable feedback and prepared to give back in supporting them as well. As for networking, what has been working has been to be diligent in joining groups where I can network and volunteer my time where I can offer my expertise. I set a networking schedule where I challenge myself to find events to attend 1-2 per week. I set a time to follow up and send hand written, personalized notes as much as possible.
