Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Danielle.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Peace everyone! I’m Lauren Danielle Porchia (Lauren Danielle) and I’m 33 years old. I was born in Charleston, SC and raised in the small town of Moncks Corner, SC. Growing up, I was shy, had low self-esteem, and was afraid to speak my truth. For many years, I looked for love outside of myself. I was extremely sensitive and always had a heart to help people. One of my dreams was to become a teacher. I graduated from the illustrious HBCU, South Carolina State University. I have a B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling with a Certificate in Orientation and Mobility. I have served as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in the field of Visual Impairment for over nine years working in state government, private and public schools, and as a contractor.
My business was birthed after my own personal journey to Well-being. In 2013, my life began to shift drastically. I was on a path to a deep depression. I was so unhappy with my life. I spent three years trying to maneuver my way for a better life. Finally in 2016, I began my journey by going to yoga classes every day. This practice allowed me to find myself and my life shifted for the better. My yoga journey allowed me to see that this was my purpose work to share this healing with others.
After my Egyptian Yoga Certification in Portland, JA, I continued to create an array of services for those that wanted to take the journey to well-being. In January 2019, I relocated back to my hometown and took a leap of faith into full-time entrepreneurship. This was yet again another rock bottom moment for me. I find truth in that your external environment reflects your inner environment. I was becoming physically sick because I was being drained from external factors. This drove me to make another drastic leap of faith. In October 2019, I relocated to Atlanta, GA with very little money, a few of my clothes, my wellness tools, and a whole lot of faith! Immediately, I started to physically feel better. I see Atlanta as the city of opportunities and powerful business owners. *In my Forest Gump voice*”Atlanta is like a box of chocolates, You never who you’re going to meet”. I love it here and it has been the best decision I have ever made to this date. I’m looking forward to the abundance to come in all aspects of my life!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Certainly, there is no one fix fits all button. Or poof, you are healed switch. I wish there was, sheesh. Lol. What I learned along my journey is that those tough experiences are only here to make you an expert. I put in the work and I’m still putting it in! Thank God I don’t look like what I’ve been through because BABY, WHEW! I’m learning to be more present, speak my truth, and reflecting divine love in everything I do. I would advise a young woman on this journey to just be gentle with yourself.
Being an entrepreneur is not for the faint at heart. There are PLENTY of days I’m discouraged and want to give up. I think the biggest challenge for me is visibility. I’m not very well-known and often times, some people are closed-minded when it comes to holistic healing work and are selective to who they allow in their space. I just keep reminding myself. Value; you are adding value.
My personal quote is what I would share: Accept what is. Trust the process. Be Patient for the outcome. This concept can be applied to personal and professional life.
Please tell us about SOulDIVINE Wellness & Creations (SOulDIVINE).
I am a Holistic Health Practitioner and Holisti-care Expert. I have gained certifications in Yoga, Reiki, Detox Therapy, Vaginal Steaming, and Vibrational Sound Therapy. My favorite service to offer is vibrational sound therapy because it is a unique service that changes the cellular structure in the body to alleviate stress, pain, and anxiety. It makes my SOul happy to receive my client’s reaction at the end of their session. I facilitate many workshops and group wellness therapy sessions. I recently came into dancing with the Hula Hoop. I call that workshop Hula-Healing in which I support women in finding self-love, confidence, and good health through hula-hooping. I make custom made waistbeads, organic smudesticks, and copper jewelry. I am also an herbal pad distributor. I infuse my jewelry with reiki energy, give it a spiritual cleanse, and activate it with high vibrational energy. It is important to me that my clients tell me their intentions so that it is infused into their pieces as well. Every service and product I offer incorporates mind-body-spirit health and is served/created with divine love.
I am passionate about my custom creations and the greater expansion of relationships, healing, and businesses in the African American community. From this passion, an event called Atlanta Beads of Love was birthed. It is centered around #blacklove and #blackentrepreneurship. I am in partnership with Melanin Muscles Mascara Fit Club to create a safe space in which black men and women can dissect our perspectives of the way we see each other and shape how can we move towards one another. Our goal is to discover the barriers that keeps us from coming together and staying connected. The event is scheduled for 6/20/20. This event is for married, dating, and singles to show up in elegant attire to heal/grow/build together. Find out more at @atlbeadsoflove.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Shameless plug! My first book, A Journey to Well-being: 21 Day Guide to Mind-Body-Spirit Health. It is definitely a quick and easy daily read to help myself and anyone else to practice mindfulness in life. It involves an inspirational quote, daily reading, activity, affirmation, and journaling space. I love to read self-help books. Currently, I’m reading Queen Afua’s book Heal Thy Self. Oh my goodness, podcasts! I can go on for days, but I will just name 3. Hey Girl, Yup, She Said it, and Black Girl in OM. Ralph Smart with Infinite Waters is definitely my YouTube go-to for inspiration and meditation music. The Sunny Show is a good reference on how to build your brand on social media.
