Today we’d like to introduce you to Share Allen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started on my journey to entrepreneurship 28 years ago, that’s when I decided that college was not for me. I knew I wanted to work for myself but, I didn’t know how or what that actually looked like. However, what I knew was that I had to create a path where I was able to be my own boss, work for myself, and work as hard as I wanted while doing something I loved. When you find that thing that you love, it doesn’t seem like work and what I’ve figured out over the years is that people work harder for themselves than they do for others.
I started in the beauty industry and after 15 years, I decided that it was time for a change and enrolled in interior design school at The Atlanta Art Institute. I’ve always considered myself to be an artist, creativity is my natural talent, something I truly enjoy and don’t have to work hard at.
While in school for interior design, I met an owner of a boutique interior design firm. This firm granted me an opportunity to work as an assistant on multi-million dollar home in Buckhead. This gave me the drive to start my very own interior design business. While my business was thriving, the economy took a downturn. Interior design is a luxury service that clients no longer needed overfeeding their families. So, I saw an opportunity to help people who were losing their homes while working in real estate.
Today, I work as a REALTOR® and Interior Designer in Atlanta. As we know, 95% of home buyers start their search on the internet. That’s why I’m helping sellers present their homes in the best way to get them top dollar.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth Road?? NO!! Whenever you start a new business, you’re forced to start over. I’ve had many businesses over the years and one thing I know is that although the beginning may seem like a setback, the struggles I’ve encountered taught me something new every time. I understand that if you had a successful business once—its easy to replicate again and again.
The advice I would have for a young woman starting her journey is to build your business around your interest or hobbies, then find your tribe of people who support what you’re doing. It’s tough when you don’t have people around you who don’t understand what it takes to start a business. Join organizations, visit workshops, and follow business owners on social media. Do whatever you need to find that tribe, it’s key.
A secret that has helped me become successful is to Google. Google everything you don’t know, and if that doesn’t work—connect with your tribe and ask someone for help. Almost everything can be found with a click of a button.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Post and Beam Estates – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started my company, Post and Beam Estates to offer real estate services to home buyers, sellers, investors, and renters. Home staging and interior design are a few other features we offer as well.
I specialize in creating luxury spaces for every budget for sellers and homeowners.
With my interior design background, I enjoy helping buyers visualize themselves in a space as well as help investors see the potential in a run-down home.
What sets me apart is having a beauty industry and interior design background, this gives me an edge for my clients. They essentially are getting two for the price of one when I work with them. I have the ability to walk into your home and determine what your house needs to get it sold and advise on design techniques to help inspire and support your vision.
I am building a brand that will be recognized amongst consumers as luxury interiors for your home and real estate needs. I am providing a service like no other, “every client is like family,” I will be their long-term for my clients to help them redo their home goals. Real estate does not have to be boring and this is what makes me, “A Different Kind of REALTOR®.”
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I am the 6th child out of seven siblings, so I always had to fight to even be heard. This taught me that either you jump in or get left behind. So, my entire life I thought to just jump in, do it and don’t wait on anyone.
I think every experience you’ve gone through in life, shapes you into the person you are today. Both good and bad—we need every experience to help us learn and grow. My parents are both creative people. Growing up, I saw them work their jobs to pay the bills instead of working with their natural talents. Being exposed to this made me choose to live my best life and do what’s best for me. So, from the time I was able to make my own choices in life, I chose to follow my heart, my dreams, and my passions.
