Life & Work with Kari Rainwater of Kingston Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Rainwater.

Hi Kari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Touch has always comforted me, even as a little girl, massage has been relevant to my life. Growing up I would massage my mother and come up with my own technique names, and as I got older I would massage my friends in social settings. At 25, I finally decided to make a career out of it. I enrolled to Gwinnett College in Lilburn specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy. I graduated on the Deans List in 2018 and shortly after I passed the MBLEX to get my license. I gained more experience working for a spa franchise for 3 years and decided to work for myself. In March of 2022, I opened Kingston Body Wellness, LLC. My business has continued to thrive and grow, my clients are truly loyal and like family as they have been with me through the journey for almost 8 years now. My center has been able to rent rooms to other individuals who are business owners in the wellness and tattoo community. Blending my love for helping people and creative art is truly the epitome of what I have always wanted to do. I feel so grateful and honored to be where I am today, and I am excited to expand and better myself even more in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m not even going to lie, I was terrified when I branched out on my own. There were times when I have doubted myself and my potential. The first year took a little trial and error while building more clientele and getting the word out of my new business, but I decided to stick with it even when I was scared. I’m so glad that I stuck it through because now there is not a doubt in my mind about the success of my business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in Neuromuscular Therapy. I am naturally firm in pressure and I truly love to help work out muscular adhesions while combing a relaxing touch. My work is very therapeutic and soothing at the same time. I am most proud of my client retention rate, while still adding new clients to my schedule. I think what sets me apart from other therapists is that I really care about helping people, and plus I’ve always been told that my cervical work stands out from other massages.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me most is living an authentic life, being grounded and happy with myself. I want to be a bright light in someone’s life, even if it’s just for an hour or two. I admit to being a people pleaser, and lately I have been doing more inner work to make myself happier as well. I am a firm believer in self care and I like to practice what I teach!
