Life & Work with Leah Boresow Groover of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Boresow Groover

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
All I have ever done is dance. From when I was very little, all the way through now, dancing has been a key factor in my life’s happiness.

Once I discovered that I loved teaching as much as I loved dancing, I knew that one day I would have my own studio. And just like that, in 2021, coming out of COVID, I opened my very own adult dance studio, Get Up And Dance! 3 years into having the dance studio, and I have no plans of stopping any time soon! And on top of supporting the studio, I try to keep my passion of dancing and choreographing alive through various theatre projects and showcases.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly hasn’t been too rough, but it’s been an awesome learning curve. Other than dealing with difficult management prior to owning my own business, one of the biggest struggles was definitely dealing with COVID and recovering from it, as someone who depends on face-to-face interaction for their life’s work.

Now, the biggest challenge is juggling it all, and I have no intention of slowing down (: I am also a new mom, balancing being with my new baby with performing, choreographing, producing showcases, and, of course, teaching.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Dance is the word. It is my whole world. And I know it like the back of my hand! I specialize in all sorts of dance styles, such as ballroom dance, Latin dance, ballet, contemporary, modern, tap, jazz, musical theatre, swing dance, and more! I believe my authenticity of truly knowing all of these styles sets me apart from other dance studios- it’s not easy to find a passionate “one-trick-pony” like myself. But I am very proud of myself for keeping my passion to inspire others alive- dance brings me so much peace and joy and I love giving that to others! I am also most proud of the fact that after all of these years, I am STILL dancing, and have never given up on it.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The book that my life depends upon is my planner (: While most folks use their phones/computers to keep track of everything, my “old-fashioned” written planner is not only my calendar, but also my diary, in a sense. and I take all my inspiration from my day-to-day plans, and those plans of the future!

I also depend on music resources for finding music for performances, etc, and playing music for my classes and social events. The app I use every day is Spotify.
