Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Shellman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I actually started my journey in a completely different industry. I was selling life insurance for a living, specifically what’s known in the industry as Final Expense. That meant I spent a lot of time sitting down with seniors who either didn’t have any coverage or wanted to add more. Part of the process was going through all the medications they were taking so I could help lower their costs.
Over time, I started to notice something. Many of these people were on multiple prescriptions, but despite that, they were still in pain. It wasn’t because they had major injuries. It was because the medications often came with side effects, and their bodies simply weren’t strong or mobile enough to support the lives they wanted to live.
That realization changed everything for me. I understood that if I could reach people earlier and help them build stronger bodies, better nutrition habits, and healthier lifestyles, they wouldn’t have to depend on medication in the first place. That’s what pushed me to step away from insurance and dedicate myself fully to fitness, nutrition, and helping people live with strength and vitality.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, it’s definitely had its moments like anything new that you commit to building. There were times when things felt uncertain and uncomfortable, but I always kept my focus on the bigger picture. I quickly learned that it didn’t matter how much knowledge or skill you had if you couldn’t reach people.
If you couldn’t get them to trust you, connect with you, and take that first step, then you couldn’t train them or help them transform. That was one of my biggest lessons early on success in this field is just as much about connection as it is about expertise.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m currently a Master Trainer at Lifetime Fitness where I specialize in nutrition and supplementation, glute development, DNA fitness coaching, transformation training, and online fitness coaching. A few years ago, I also wrote a book on weight loss and nutrition, which allowed me to share my knowledge with a wider audience.
In addition to my work at Lifetime, I run my own company, Shellman Strong Fitness. My company focuses on helping people achieve lasting transformation through personalized fitness and nutrition strategies. What I’m most proud of is seeing real change in people’s lives. It’s not just about losing weight or building muscle. It’s about helping them feel stronger, more confident, and more in control of their health.
What sets me apart is the way I combine advanced fitness methods with individualized nutrition and DNA-based coaching. I look at the whole person, not just their workout routine, so that every plan is built to create sustainable, long-term results.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to understand that building something meaningful takes time. Stay patient and consistent, even when it feels like nothing is moving as fast as you want it to. Focus on learning how to genuinely connect with people because in this industry, relationships are just as important as knowledge.
I wish I had understood earlier that knowing your craft is only part of the equation. If you can’t communicate your value and reach the people who need your help, your skills won’t make the impact they’re meant to. Learn to listen, learn to market yourself, and most importantly, keep showing up. The small, consistent steps you take each day will compound over time.
