Meet Ananya Vahal and Carlos “Loso” Perez of Prime Vice Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ananya Vahal and Carlos “Loso” Perez.

Prime Vice Studios, LLC is the premier sequential art company. It was started in 2016 by Carlos “Loso” to provide creative services. He noticed the lack of diverse representation in the industry and the community and turned it into an opportunity to provide what was missing.

Ananya began writing comics in 2016 to help her nonprofit raise funds and build awareness in the community. Loso holds an MFA in Sequential Art and Ananya holds an MFA in Writing. They combined their skills and joined forces to build Prime Vice Studios. Today, Prime Vice Studios owns original characters and stories, produces online content, helps brands create intellectual properties, and teaches comics in the Metro-Atlanta area with their signature workbook and curriculum.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Perez and Vahal faced struggles that many start-ups face in the beginning. They established the world’s first sequential art company, so they had to educate their clients and community about their unique services. It is difficult to get investors and funding for an art-based business, so Prime Vice Studios has been completely self-funded. Perez and Vahal built the company while working through graduate school as full-time students. Also, as people of color, they’ve had to overcome biases and obstacles to create opportunities for themselves.
