Today we’d like to introduce you to Atlanta’s Best Fly Guy DC.
Audley “Fly Guy DC”, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I began my journey technically on accident and it has been the best accident to ever happen in my life. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was just out and about with some friends in the city and they passed me the mic and encouraged me to host, however at that time I didn’t consider it hosting I was just talking on the mic. A few months later I was booked in Cincinnati, Ohio. They paid my booking rate, they paid for my travel expenses and treated me like a king and that was a feeling I could get used to. From that day forward I began to hone my craft.
Fast forward a few years, I began hosting at all of the hot spots and events in the Atlanta market to hosting in various destinations across the U.S. I learned the industry and progressed through by being myself and establishing a lane of my own. I started my own internet radio show, Dream 2 Reality, teaching myself and getting acclimated to how radio works.
After proving myself and having eyes on me, I was approached by Streetz 94.5 to be part of DJ Holiday’s 6-10 pm team. Within a year I once again proved myself and landed a prime time radio show in a top ten market at Streetz 94.5 alongside a co-host. Our show peaked great ratings as a newcomer with the ability to compete with the competition and still competes today.
Within my short stint of being in the entertainment industry, I have made appearances on National networks including Lifetime, Nickelodeon and other Viacom networks. My journey thus far has taken me on tours, and International bookings. I am blessed and haven’t even reached my prime.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t necessarily not been smooth but it also hasn’t been entirely easy. All opportunities come with its pros and cons and it’s up to the person to adapt accordingly. I’ve been blessed to maneuver with the ability to stay true to myself.
Please tell us about Fly Guy DC.
My company is me! Seriously, I am my brand. I am a host, Television & Radio personality. I separate myself from other hosts because I’m not one dimensional, I can host anything, anywhere. I host parties, weddings, collegiate events, concerts, and more. I am authentically me and stay true to myself. What also separates me is the fact I do not smoke or drink, never have and never will, I have such a natural high with the overall welcoming essence. I am known for being myself and creating an enjoyable time for anyone who attends the events I host. I am also known for my passion for community outreach. I always make an effort to give back to the community go to schools speak on career days, read to adolescents, mentor and even host pep rally and proms. I am most proud of my progression as a host and the time span of which I have been progressing.
