Meet Calvin Richmond of MuscleCarGang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Calvin Richmond.

Hi Calvin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m from Memphis, Tennessee, born and raised in a family of five kids. I started early with a paper route at my grandma’s house, and that’s where I learned that starting small still counts. By 15, I was babysitting and pumping gas after school just to keep my haircut fresh and buy some new kicks. Those years taught me consistency and hard work.

After high school, I learned trades like plumbing and roofing, and worked my first W2 job as a dishwasher. But deep down, I kept having these vivid creative ideas. I started pitching designs to Nike, Adidas, Pastime Sports, and Yamaha. They all said no, and for a while I stopped.

Then those ideas came back, this time with my wife by my side. I created MuscleCarGang®, a brand for classic car lovers, builders, racers, and collectors — inspired by the kid in me who used to point at cars and say, “That’s my car.”

Five years later, MuscleCarGang® has grown into a movement with products, a strong community, and now a 30-minute, 100-episode trivia game show in the works, the first of its kind for the automotive world.

From pumping gas at 15 to producing my own TV show, I’ve learned that every no brings you closer to your yes, and that small beginnings can lead to something amazing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it wasn’t easy. I worked multiple jobs when I was in middle school. Pumping gas, Babysitting, Plumbing, Roofing, and starting as a part-time dishwasher. I didn’t have time to have fun like the other teenagers

I had to work all the way through high school, because I was helping my family and I had a new born on the way at the age of 18, with only a few bucks to my name.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I created my brand MuscleCarGang®, for classic car lovers, builders, racers, and collectors. I also produced products like our custom playing cards MuscleCards® with classic muscle cars on the face cards. I’m in the production phases of a 30min/100 episode trivia game show first ever for the automotive industry.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe the classic muscle car industry is on the verge of an exciting revival. More men and women, both seasoned enthusiasts and a new generation of younger builders, are getting inspired to purchase and rebuild classic cars and trucks, not just for nostalgia, but for their lasting value.

We’re also witnessing an incredible trend: blending vintage style with modern innovation, where builders are taking timeless classic bodies and transforming them into electric-powered masterpieces—keeping the soul of the past alive while driving boldly into the future.
