Meet Christina Edwards of Be Consulting and BOFCreative in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Edwards.

Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My business partner, Jessi Ford Bacon, and I founded BOFCreative, a full-service PR, and digital marketing agency, in 2011. When Jessi pitched me the idea of starting an agency back then, I was all in. We saw a distinct need in the market for what we had to offer, and we didn’t let anything stop us. We picked a name, logo, crafted a website, and pitched ourselves to as many local business owners as we could. After we had a few events, social media and PR campaigns under our belt, we were able to refine our goals, expertise, and pricing.

Last year, we launched a new brand within our agency called Be Consulting, which focuses on helping nonprofit and mission-driven organizations to accomplish their goals through digital marketing consulting. After having the privilege of working with some amazing nonprofits through the years, we decided to expand our agency into this sector. We’re passionate about helping organizations that do good so the world can do better.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road if you’re trying to start something new or make a true impact! As Marie Forleo says, “Everything is figure-out-able.” That’s basically been our roadmap to success – finding the right tools, education, leaders, and mentors to help us succeed and give our clients the absolute best experience and marketing solutions possible.

Surrounding ourselves with colleagues and mentors to advise us has also been key to our success. Reading relevant blogs (Tech Crunch, Social Media Today, Mashable), attending conferences, listening to podcasts (Amy Porterfield, Ted Radio, Marie Forleo, and Super Soul Sunday, because… Oprah), and having coffee with community champions in Atlanta help me remain up to date on the ever-changing marketing landscape.

Being unafraid to try something new is key. As the marketing world has evolved, we have evolved with it. Authentically telling a brand’s story and mission through powerful content has kept us focused and on track even when we’ve hit bumps in the road. Connecting different organizations, companies, friends and innovators together has been not only integral to our success but part of the fun!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Be Consulting and BOFCreative – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our passion to help businesses and organizations grow, spark change, and engage the community is what sets us apart. We take on clients we believe in and value our relationship as a true partnership. When we succeed, they succeed.

Be Consulting brings our depth and expertise in the digital marketing world to elevate the impact of Atlanta nonprofits. We identify and create brand voice standards, develop and craft campaign goals, and create annual digital marketing campaigns. Managing the planning process helps each of our clients have an organized, plug-and-play approach to their marketing efforts. We establish the frequency and type of content that should be posted on various networks to best reach benchmarks and goals. When we have a nonprofit that is working towards an annual fundraiser or expanding brand reach, we ensure that all communication efforts (PR, e-blast, blog, social media) are carefully planned to ensure the best possible result. Nonprofits have so much on their plate and our goal is to put marketing on the forefront in an easy, manageable way.

BOFCreative is a full-service agency specializing in Social PR which ensures that your digital marketing is cohesive and engaging across all platforms. We offer traditional public relations in addition to social media content creation, community management, social media photography and videography. One of our larger campaigns was Ponce City Market’s construction-to-retail opening campaign. I loved watching the space completely transform and breathe life into a historic building that sat vacant for so many years.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Our client base really reflects our love for the city, particularly in town neighborhoods. Living and working in the city is so important to me and I really love watching Atlanta transform. I remember sitting on a bus tour of the proposed Atlanta BeltLine years ago thinking how incredible it would be to have Ryan Gravel’s vision become a reality. And now, I feel so fortunate to be able to live steps from it!

I love that Atlanta has evolved into a place where murals and large-scale art installations are part of the culture and vibrancy of the city. I’m a huge fan of HENSE’s murals, and recently I was leaving a meeting in Midtown and looked up (literally) to find him painting the side of a new high-rise building. Amazing. Atlanta is also home to some incredible companies and innovators like SPANX and Mailchimp, both of which do a tremendous amount of mentoring and support to nonprofits, the arts, and startups.

While Atlanta has so much to love, there’s still so much work to do. The income inequality gap is widening. While developments like the BeltLine have had many positive effects, affordable housing is needed to keep our city vibrant and diverse. Another area that clearly needs work is transportation. We have so much opportunity to offer daily commute alternatives beyond the current status quo. I would love to see a light rail option, MARTA expansion, and more overall investment in this sector.

Atlanta is a world-class city, and its transportation infrastructure and options should reflect that. There are so many nonprofits and startups working on these exact issues right now, and there’s so much opportunity to become involved to make a change.
