Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Freeman.
Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for as long as I can remember. My mother was a hairstylist and owned a salon when I was younger and as soon as I became old enough, I began assisting her. I took cosmetology for three years in high school then graduated from the AVEDA INSTITUTE OF COSMETOLOGY in 2015 and almost immediately after took my first job as a makeup artist at a blowout bar in Buckhead. Now four years later I am one of the key stylists for an on-site hair and makeup company called MAKEMEUPGA and also the Chief style boss at BLO BLOWDRY BAR in east Cobb.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I feel like with anything worth having there’s gonna be a little struggle. Starting out as a makeup artist fresh out of school was a little difficult. I came to find that there was so little I actually knew about working on a wide array of people and so much knowledge I had to pick up all while excepting paying clients. It took a lot of learning as I was going and a lot of practice to get to where I am and I’m thankful for that push because without someone believing I could provide good service even with the minimal knowledge I had at the time I wouldn’t be in the position(s) I’m in today.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about MAKEMEUPGA and BloBlowdryBar – what should we know?
I’m lead for two separate businesses, One is a Blowdry bar where we specialize in blowout styling and makeup. The other is an onsite hair and makeup company where we specialize in weddings mostly but we cater to all types of special event services. With both companies, I feel as tho our timing, professionalism, and attention to detail really sets us apart from other companies.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Professionalisms and kindness for sure. Working closely with brides I learned that a lot of the time these women have a million things running through their mind the day of their wedding and being able put their mind a ease even just for a little bit and make them look and feel like a princess makes me very happy. One of my favorite quotes is “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”.
