Today we’d like to introduce you to Demond Crump.
Hi Demond, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Demond Crump a U.S. Veteran married to Qiana Crump for 31 years and Father of four amazing kids. We came to Atlanta from New Orleans because of hurricane Katrina. We arrived in Atlanta with two days worth of clothes thinking we would be returning home. Once we realised we weren’t going back we continued our entrepreneur journey in Atlanta. I have now been an entrepreneur for 31 years. When I left the U.S. Navy in 1994 I started washing cars, promoted concerts, loan officer and started real estate investing before Katrina. In Atlanta I had an online travel company, coffee business, health & wellness business and in October of 2016 I saw a demonstration of a sanitary pad that blew my mind. I partnered with 3 other guys to launch the company and after 1 year they decided to go into a failed merger that I was against. Then in 2018 I was a free agent my wife perfected the pad that we had in the previous company and in January 2019 we launched the REIGN Premium Sanitary Napkins company and here we are 6 years later over $30 million in revenue from a $6 product.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge was the failed merger with my 3 former partners. The gentleman we brought in to be our CEO stole from the company we discovered later and the merger. I told my partners not to do the merger because it wasn’t a good move. So it was 3 against 1 so I was looking like the wrong one. After 2 months entering the so called “merger” it fell apart. That move left my family and I broke after being owed over $400,000.00 that was invested by us. In March of 2019 we had $277 to our name and had to rebuild our lives over again.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We own a sanitary napkin and panty liner company for women and young girls. We created a product that has changed the game for women and young girls on a monthly basis. REIGN products has a super absorbent, absorbency system where as anytime any type of moisture lands on the top of the pad or liner it sucks it away from the body keeping women and young girls comfortable and dry. We also have an antimicrobial strip that is in all of our products. This strip helps remove the door, helps with cramping and shortens the cycle. Any big plans?
We purchased some land in Stockbridge we will be building a new corporate office from the ground up. Currently we are in a 14,000 square foot corporate headquarters. We also have begun our international expansion. Our products have been approved in Nigeria, Ghana, pending approval in Jamaica and we are currently shipping to Canada.
