Meet Hadiya George

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hadiya George.

Hadiya, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I found my love for music at family parties. At just 7 years old, I would dance circles around my aunts and uncles. Listening to the sounds of my family’s country, Guyana. No doubt, Caribbean music is life and I dance up one big storm whenever I hear the DJ play soca or calypso.

Around that same age, my best friend and I snuck into the Narvie J. Harris 300 youth choir because they were so dope, but you could only be in the second grade to join and I’m sure my choir director knew we’re just a grade under. Maybe he saw something special. Fast forward to 16 I was still in chorus but this time I was writing music. Of course, by now my mom was my manager and surprisingly I was in a four girl group called “Haarmoniee”. We sang for school events and did little rehearsals: nothing major and just one youtube video.

After the group split my mom introduced me to an actual studio. The engineer was Dave “Jam” Hall. He worked with artists from the 90’s like SWV and Mariah Carey. I recorded my first ep with him still at the age of 16. He called it “The Beginning” which It sure was because I never stopped. Skipping to recent years my Ep “Bay View” drops July 25th, 2017 and that’s when people really started to recognize me and my most popular song “Hot Flavor”.

The beginning of the year 2018 I met my manager Drew. An enthusiastic energetic phenomenon rockstar that is now showing me how to be confident and take more opportunities at the neck. Now we’re at S.E.A a second ep to you but a fourth for me which is really just an emotional placeholder for what fireI’mm bringing next.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road. I suffered with depression, insecurities, doubt. Feeling stuck and uninspired.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is Hadiya George. She is a firehouse and an inspirational soldier. I specialize in funk, jazz, RnB, rock, hip-hop, rap, blues.

I’m most proud of how far I come and I’m not stopping anytime soon nor will I let anything stop me.

What sets me apart is what you see everyone has the same types of goals they want to reach and they’re all different in a way but I have to stay away from the normal.

I’m a big fan of the same sound era because if I were people wouldn’t hear any of the messages I’m telling them they would just be listening to tired trap soul and trap.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I never believed in luck and I don’t even think about it. God is my master and guides me through all obstacles. He has recovered my spirits and kept me alive and as long as I’m alive. I’m winning.
