Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Harry.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am originally from the MD/DC area. I moved here with my wife in 1996 and we fell in love with the city. Although I have been working as a Technical/Corporate Recruiter for well over 20 years, I have maintained an active presence on the local musical theatre scene as a performer.
I am an actor/singer who moonlights as a headshot/portrait photographer.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As an actor, I ran into several roadblocks as most of us do. Getting seen, learning the business, not ever having enough money, etc. With my photography business, I struggled with paying attention to my own voice and striving for individuality.
Everyone is a photographer these days, which is why you being unique and always creating helps.
Please tell us about Kevin Harry Photography.
My business is Kevin Harry Photography. I specialize in headshots for creatives and corporate professionals. In addition, I shoot portraits and promotional shots for local theatres. Most of my sessions are customized to the individual and can range from a simple shoot to a magazine style editorial spread.
I love the look on someone’s face after seeing an image of themselves I shot. Every time I pick up a camera, I learn something new about my subject as well as myself.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Building forts in the woods with friends. we didn’t have a care in the world.
