Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Williams.
Kimberly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so it came as no surprise that I was bit by the entrepreneurial bug in 5th grade. I sold candy and personalized lanyards… I even had business cards!
I graduated from Riverwood High in Sandy Springs and continued my education at Georgia Southern University (the real GSU). In December 2008, I received my BBA in Operations Management and June 2011, my Masters in Human Resources Management.
May 2016, I was married, March 2017, I had our son Kingston. After dealing with a serious bout of postpartum depression, I decided I needed to do something for myself besides being a wife and a mother. I realized that over the years, I had become incredibly comfortable with my profession and paycheck, but I realized I wanted more. I still wanted to own my own business, but I didn’t think I had to time, or the vision to make it happen. Well, when God wants you to grow, He makes you uncomfortable. After 11 years, I was wrongfully terminated and found myself with all the time in the world and no possible excuse to deter me.
During those two and a half months of unemployment I was able to learn a lot about myself. I learned that I am a creative soul. That I am capable of setting and smashing goals. That I am way more than just a wife and a mother. From there, Yimmy’s Armoire was born.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
While this venture has definitely been a learning process, it has honestly been a pretty smooth road. I am always looking for ways to improve my craft and I look to my peers and family members that own small businesses for guidance when I run into an issue.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I create natural handcrafted soaps, bath bombs, bath salts, and body scrubs. I create products with ingredients my customers can pronounce and feel confident using on their skin. I am most proud of the fact that I listen to my customers. Their feedback is the most important aspect to me because I am creating something for them. I want them to TRUST me because I am in this to create a quality product that can help make people feel phenomenal! I have been in the customer service field all my working life, so I make sure my customer service is stellar. Most companies are just in business to make a dollar.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is not defined by how much wealth you amass. It’s ultimately about how happy YOU are as a person, and how you positively impact someone else’s life. It’s about looking at each day as a new opportunity to improve upon yourself as an individual.
