Meet Kirsten Lee of Kirsten Lee Photography in Douglasville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Lee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kirsten. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always been an artist since childhood. I remember begging my mother to sign me up for “real” art lessons when I was just 10 years old. I loved to draw, paint, and color! I went to college and I ended up with a double major in Psychology and Studio Art. I never imagined that I would use my Art degree but I loved it so much, I couldn’t let it go. My first camera was my mother’s old Canon AE1 that I used in photography class in high school. I took it to Europe and I still have those images printed on my wall. I found art again through the lens of my camera after becoming a mother in 2008. I photographed and practiced all the time when my kids were little. With my children being my inspiration and the amazing support of my husband I started Kirsten Lee Photography in 2011.

As a former Special Education Teacher, I love working with children! I love to capture children and families just being themselves. As an artist, you’re always striving for continuous improvement and my style and expertise have evolved with years of experience. With these improvements, I have been able to expand my business throughout several states. Relationships with my clients and repeat business is an important part of my success.

Along with Children and Family Photography, I’ve also added Real Estate Photography to my business in 2014. It has been a great experience working with other Atlanta Real Estate agents and getting to know home owners. Real Estate Photography allows me to show off all the hard work that home owners and agents put into getting a home ready to be placed on the market.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, it has been a smooth road through the years. As I’ve continued to photograph children and families, opportunities have fallen in my lap like senior photography and real estate photography, which have enabled me to expand my core business. I’ve also found my love for lifestyle photography where I go to a client’s home and capture their morning as a family. These seasons of life from newborns, first birthdays, or even a new home are important in a family’s life and I love being able to capture their story through photography.

I strive for high quality images for my clients. The artistic side of photography is natural to me but over the years I’ve learned to provide my clients with not just high quality images but also an experience. My customers’ experience is paramount and enables a quality product. I want to make booking, scheduling, reviewing, ordering, and session time as easy and positive as possible. My goal is for them to LOVE their images but also to earn repeat business.

Please tell us about Kirsten Lee Photography.
I specialize in children, family, seniors, and real estate photography. With my education background, I enjoy being around children and being able to capture their personality in a photo. I encourage parents to let them be themselves, let them wear what they want, and if they want to bring their favorite toy, even better!

I’m an on-location photographer in the Metro Atlanta area. I love meeting my clients at different outdoor locations in the Atlanta area along with coming to their homes. I always love finding the beautiful light outside and inside a client’s home. It is a fun challenge for me!

As a sole-proprietor I’m proud to show my children that you can do anything you set your mind to. To show them that hard work pays off and that God gives us special gifts that we can use to make people happy.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I started art lessons in 4th grade at Lane School of Art. It was a small little art school in my hometown taught by a former public school teacher, Mr. Lane. He was loud, loved to tease, and great with kids. He wanted you to learn but to also have fun.

I’ve grown up with people mispronouncing my name all the time. Everywhere I go, I either correct people or spell it at least once. Mr. Lane could never say my name correctly and everyone always corrected him. One day he finally gave up and gave me a nickname. He decided to call me Ladybug. And from that day on he called me Ladybug till I headed to college.
