Meet Kristopher Williams of StyleStudio Branding in Lithonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Williams.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve always been a creative at heart. My mom was a creative not only through the gift of drawing, but she was a phenomenal singer. Sadly, she passed away in 2011, my dad who is also very gifted. He’s gifted in music as well but not only that, he can fix anything he put his hands on. So, the blessing of having the best of both worlds made me super independent on the gift’s God has placed inside of me. I am next to the youngest of seven siblings, we all share a unique gift/talent that makes us different from one another. We didn’t have much growing up, but my parents made sure we never went without. I struggled so much as a young individual growing up. I wasn’t always talkative. I was so quiet that people thought something was wrong with me. All I did was draw, I never really said anything to anybody. They knew me as “the kid who draws a lot.” They still call me that until this day, that’s the only thing they remember about me. I knew God had a purpose for me, I just didn’t know what it was at the time. Fast forward to my out into the world. I didn’t know where I wanted to go, didn’t plan my future properly, so I begin working in the manufacturing industry. I was in that industry for almost 14 years. Every year, I prayed and worked. Then, soon enough, I started listening to motivation from others about my drawing, hanging out with people that were going to school to become greater. I was just so tired of being where I was that I literally broke down crying. I was tired of never having enough to do anything when I got paid, tired of people saying that I was going to stay where I was and continue to struggle. Knew that wasn’t my purpose.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me at all. I had to learn how to get out of my comfort zone. One of my friends strongly encouraged me to enroll in school and really see what was out there for me. I was going to school for animation at first until I realized how much I sucked at it that I changed my major to graphic design. From there I wanted to learn everything about creating, photo manipulation, video editing. Everything that it had to offer. But the school only taught you the basics. I knew that I was born to be extraordinary! I was so comfortable with working in the warehouse that I almost missed my big chance. My very first job was an internship, which was a none paid internship. It took me three years to really learning the industry but it took me almost three years to land a steady position. I showed my work to a creative agency, the lady who viewed my work told me that I had potential compared to the previous work she saw. Most of the work she showed me that they turned into her was how mine looked when I first started. I knew I had to really buckle down and study the craft. So, I went to YouTube University and really worked on learning the Adobe programs.

StyleStudio Branding – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well, it started in 2009, I wanted to get some extra income. Back then, the name of my company was “Give Me Your Vision Graphics”. I thought the name was very self-explanatory, you write your vision about your design and I bring it to life. I did graphic and web development under that name until this year. I needed something more creative, and that’s when StyleStudio was born. I specialize in print and digital design work for big businesses, small businesses, startups… you name it! I recently started learning photography and video editing. I love to shoot during the golden hour! I figured if I do graphics, why not help a business with professional photos as well. Can’t be a business owner with just cellphone photography. What I am most proud of is that I believed in God to open me up to pour out this gift to others. Yes, I’m very churchy! But it served its purpose greatly in my life! It taught me how to pray in tough situations and to not settle for anything better than great! I had to take a huge leap of faith to get here. I lost a few things, but God restored them with better! I think what sets me apart is that I want you to have great work, not me just taking your money. I truly love what I do.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is simply learning from your failures and not being afraid to get up and try again when you fall. Take every lesson as a chance to get it right the next time. I wasn’t always this way, I was around some great people who taught me how to value myself, value my purpose, value this gift. Right now, I’m looking for the opportunity to be better than I was ten seconds ago. I’m always learning something new, I’m learning to not be afraid of success and to shut fear up whenever it tries to say something about anything I go through personally.
