Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndall “Monreaux” Lewis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Monreaux Method started out as a hobby of creating tulle skirts for girls and women. After multiple family and friends challenged me to take it seriously, I created a name. I wanted a name that could grow with me in case I decided to tap into other talents. Well, people often referred to me as “Monreaux” due to my infatuation with Marilyn Monroe and my IG name. I know you’re thinking “She must be Creole”… no lol. I simply wanted to be different and spelled it my own way. A fan of alliteration, I chose Method to come behind Monreaux and explain that the services I’d be rendering would be my special touch to achieve the client’s vision. And so, The Monreaux Method was born. What I thought was a simple hobby evolved into a creative empire. I began receiving inquiries from clients that challenged my skill and creativity. After taking an additional sewing course in 2019, I decided to rebrand and truly treat The Monreaux Method like a real business. Since rebranding, I’ve had over 100 orders. The support from my family, friends, and clients is truly amazing. Most of my business comes from referrals and word of mouth.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am truly blessed to experience such a smooth process with The Monreaux Method so far. One thing I am currently struggling with is how to achieve perpetuity. People often refer to my products as “trendy”. While I do not disagree, I am working extra hard to create a unique yet classic item that will forever be associated with The Monreaux Method.
Please tell us about The Monreaux Method.
The Monreaux Method specializes in customizing one of a kind pieces to reflect the client’s personality and style. Specializing in tulle, The Monreaux Method has NO LIMITS when it comes to being creative. My goal is to deliver with style, grace, and creativity that exceeds client expectations. The Monreaux Method’s growth alone makes me proud. Seeing how I started off with just tulle skirts and advancing to creating custom pieces using various fabrics and designs is rewarding and fulfilling. I also pride myself on the satisfaction of my clients, affectionately known as the #MonreauxMafia. My sincere passion to understand the client’s vision and bring it to life makes each piece personal and very exclusive, which set me apart from any other business. Psalm 37:23 states, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.” With God’s grace, I have been able to turn my passion into my purpose, with launching The Monreaux Method.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
As a child, I attended every Mississippi Valley State University Homecoming until my freshman year in high school. My mother and most of my family were alumni of MVSU. Attending Homecoming became somewhat of a family tradition. I remember being excited to go to the parade to dance with the band and wave at the queen! In fact, that memory is the very reason I chose to attend an HBCU, my HBCU, THE Tennessee State University.
