Meet L.A. Roberts

Today we’d like to introduce you to L.A. Roberts.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born on the south side of Chicago and my Papa Leon F. Howard Sr. Instilled in me at a very young age that I can do whatever I put my mind to. My start began when I was very young on stage as a ballerina. I then began to sing classical music. My Papa was a fan of Opera and would ask me to sit with him and listen. I loved how beautiful it was, so that was my next beautiful step.

Over the years of touching these beautiful arts, I always had a desire to motivate people anyway I could on and off the stage. I would find myself talking to friends and becoming the go to person for almost everything. I didn’t think much of it at all because I was just being me. I performed in over 20 main stage musicals and operas over a span of years which made me very happy. Then I made a very important decision and accepted the call to the ministry at the age of 24 which changed everything. I found myself extending myself to people of all ages speaking and teaching classes. I became the college minister for two campuses where I would hold sessions, giving them the opportunity to express themselves in ways they were never allowed. It was easy for me to stand in front of people because I had so much experience performing and encouraging people teaching came easy. I was faced with lots of obstacles but overall I wouldn’t choose anything else in the world. I have a heart for people and helping them is my passion.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. There was a point in my life I knew whatever I faced I would be able to make it through because I had my Papa. He was my main support and always made me feel special. When he passed October 27, 2016, my entire world shook. I was in a very dark depressed place because I felt there was no one else there for me. I wanted to give up. As a matter of fact, I did. In my mind, I would never return to speaking or coaching. I didn’t want to do it anymore at all. But I remembered the promise I made my Papa the day he passed. 1) Everyone in the world would know who Leon F. Howard Sr is and 2) I would continue to make him proud. I realized I couldn’t do that sitting in the dark in the middle of the room crying. I got up and slowly started to move.

One of the first things I did was write my first book and it released November 2017 titled “From Breakdown to Breakthrough- Life After Death,” and I named my Papa coauthor. When it released, we became international best selling authors together. I toured for over a year sharing the journey. I released my second book, “The Root Cause – A Journey to Heal Your Inner Child” in August 2019. Both books are available on Amazon. Losing my Papa was the hardest this I’ve ever experienced but being brave enough to face that pain has allowed me amazing opportunities, Such as being able to speak at Harvard, Teachable Head Quarters in New York City, Georgia State, Canada and the United Nations and that’s just a few highlights. I started my journey to keep my promises and I push to continue doing that everyday single day. I carry Leon F. Howard Sr. in my heart and his name remains on my lips.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a breakthrough strategist which encompasses coaching, speaking and creative consulting. I conduct one on one sessions, group sessions, main stage talks and provide creative direction for play writes, producers and directors. I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals of all ages, children, men and women. As a result from working with me, individuals learn how to stop limiting themselves. They learn to sit, stand, walk and run in freedom like never before. They breakthrough limiting beliefs and old mindsets that have been holding them back. The perspectives of past hurt change and they see them now as beautiful broken pieces that all come together that make them. An original masterpiece the world has never seen. An unforgettable unrepeatable miracle.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I have the ability to see situations from multiple perspectives without passing judgment. I listen intently pass the words are being said and I listen to the heart.
