Meet Nicole Flandry of Riverside Dermatology & Aesthetic Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Flandry.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Georgia as well as attended medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. I completed two years of a pediatrics residency before pursuing my dream of completing a dermatology residency in Danville, Pennsylvania at the Geisinger Medical Center. Out of all of my peers, I was selected to serve as Cheif Resident in my fourth year.

Upon completion of my residency, I returned to my hometown of Columbus, Georgia to open my private practice, Riverside Dermatology, and Aesthetic Center. Growing up, there were very limited options in terms of medical skin care in the area, so I always knew that I wanted to return to Columbus to contribute to my community. Riverside has allowed me not only to serve Columbus and Fort Benning but the surrounding areas as well. After three years in practice, I know I made the right decision and love every minute of being home.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While I have always known being a dermatologist was my dream, there have definitely been some bumps along the road. Growing up, my primary focus was always on school and achieving the best possible grades so I would be accepted to the best possible college, medical school, and subsequently residency. These goals did not come without sacrifices, of course. However, hard work and perseverance paired with the constant support of friends and family definitely paid off, and I would not change the course of my career.

Riverside Dermatology & Aesthetic Center – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
When I decided to pursue my own practice, I knew I wanted to provide top quality, state of the art health care in a calm and comfortable setting. Sterile office environments can be so off-putting, and sometimes going to the doctor is the only break someone gets in a workday or during a stressful time. Along with this, visiting a doctor doesn’t always bring patients the best news. I want all of my patients to look forward to coming to Riverside Dermatology as opposed to dread another visit to the doctor.

Whether it be for medical or cosmetic purposes, my team is dedicated to providing quality service with a smile. We provide many services to our patients, specializing in a simple to complex dermatologic services including medical, pediatric, surgical, and cosmetic. On the cosmetic side, we offer chemical peels, injectables, laser services, and facials, not to mention offering a broad array of products to assist at home with skin care needs.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Definitely opening Riverside Dermatology has been the proudest moment of my career so far. While owning my own business is challenging at times, I like knowing that I am able to change protocol if I see that something is not working for my patients or my medical team. We are able to provide so many services to our patients without having to cut through the proverbial “red tape” that other larger corporations often have to deal with on a regular basis. I am proud of the team that has grown in this business, and I look forward to what the future holds for Riverside Dermatology.
