Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Avard.
Patrick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I first started mixing music in college when the team I was coaching needed music to compete with. I downloaded the computer programs and taught myself! After graduating from Florida Atlantic University where I cheered competitively for 4 years, I moved to Atlanta for a coaching opportunity. After moving, music remained my side hustle to make ends meet. At some point along the way, I realized my potential and began to solely focus on music and production. In 2004, I incorporated my business and started seeking opportunities from large cheerleading gyms. In 2006, I produced my first 3 of 65 World Title mixes and that’s when the industry started to take notice in my work. Now I’m simply known as “CheerMusicPro”!
Throughout the years, I’ve constantly explored ways to innovate and perfect my craft – creating original content, working with celebrity artists and writing our music. Now, I work with the most elite teams in the industry. Just this past April at the World Championships in Orlando, I produced music for 11 of the World title winners. With the growth of the sport and mainstream exposure, it’s started to create more opportunities. Cheerleading was recently given provisional Olympic status by the International Olympic Committee where I am the exclusive music producer for the United States national teams. Also, I’ve worked with Navarro College which was featured in the Netflix Original Series, “CHEER”, and on The Ellen Show. I was allowed to license my music to both – such an exciting outlet to showcase what I do to the rest of the world.
Now, I’m focusing on a new venture called Level 77 Music. This is a catalog of pre-cleared songs created to license for all types of media including film, TV and radio.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing a business is never a smooth road! It’s been a personal challenge learning how to balance life with such a seasonal work flow. My goal of building a dynamic team has been a process over the years, but I think we’ve found the secret sauce. There have truly been all types of obstacles and struggles along the way but it’s hugely rewarding to reflect and see how far we’ve come.
