Today we’d like to introduce you to Philip And Heather Aka Pheather.
Hi Philip and Heather aka Pheather, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
On a balmy South Florida summer’s day in 2013, Philip came across Heather’s abandoned Canon Rebel that was hidden in the back of a closet. The timing was impeccable because their chihuahuas were getting restless and wanted to play in the back yard. Philip thought it would be a perfect opportunity to take some photos. However, Philip quickly realized that a) his photos sucked, and b) he had no clue what he was doing. His inability in that moment to successfully do something technical was the motivation that sent him down the long winding trail of learning how to operate a camera. After four years of practicing on chihuahuas, bugs, flowers, and other random objects, Philip was ready for a bigger challenge. That challenge was to jump head first into a photography company.
Although Heather was slightly apprehensive, Philip successfully convinced his wife/best friend to join him on unknowingly the biggest change in their lives. From that point, Philip and Heather merged together like a Power Ranger Megazord, calling themselves Pheather and naming their company after their beloved chihuahuas, Applehead. Subsequently, Applehead began photographing willingly random strangers who’d pay a few bucks for a short photo session. It was in those brief thirty-minute photo sessions that they intricately developed their skills to manually manipulate the camera’s functions in a very fast-paced setting.
Present day, their Megazord can’t be stopped!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Any time someone decides to start their own company from scratch is like a fifteen-thousand foot drop. You hit terminal velocity and hope that your parachute functions properly. As small business owner, your ability to pay your bills has to do with how hard you’re willing to work. You have to be confident in your skills and possess a creative ability to appeal toward prospective clients. Yet, we’re grateful every day that God brings us clients to our dark corner of the internet.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re professional photographers with an emphasis on photographing weddings. We’re known for dramatic, timeless, and moody photos. We’re also the creators of Uncon Bridal Con the
show and magazine and also Zombie Flowers, a full-service fully dried flower company. We’re most proud of our technical and creative adaptability that we bring to every wedding or photo shoot we’re hired for.
Applehead is the total package! We bring a high-level of comprehensive service to every client who hires us. From communication leading up to our service, day of technical/creative ability, customer service toward clients and/or guests, expeditious return of products, etc. We constantly strive to be the best at what we do, and we’re focused on doing more than documenting a day with photos. We’re not button pushers, we’re real people who care about people and their experience with us.
What makes you happy?
Philip says, “smooth peanut butter mixed with ice cream.
