Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronniece Drake and Danielle DeShields.
Ronniece and Danielle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We started Mommy Too LLC in November of 2017 & officially launched our site in January of 2018. The vision came from a lack of education regarding same-sex couples & how we have children/create families. The question often raised is “Well, who’s the mommy?” The answer? We both are, Mommy & Mommy Too (Mommy Also).
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We ran into the typical business start-up challenges like inventory mishaps, website functionality, and other technology faux pas, gaining traction, etc. In the midst, we are also experiencing life outside of Mommy Too. Ronniece lost her mother in November 2017, right in the infancy of Mommy Too. Our home was burglarized last August which forced us to move unexpectedly. Also, our wedding is August 17, 2019, so we’ve been finalizing everything for that special day. Nonetheless, we’ve learned the importance of balance and resilience within Mommy Too and otherwise. Most importantly we plan to relaunch Mommy Too new and improved in the Fall of 2019. We couldn’t be more excited to reintroduce the revamped version.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mommy Too – what should we know?
We are Ronniece Drake & Danielle DeShields founders of Mommy Too, LLC. We seek to diminish the ignorance that breeds insensitivity to motherhood and shine line light on variations of family dynamics. We specialize in providing apparel for LGBTQ+ individuals made by queer women who understand that our community is severely underserved in this aspect. We are most proud of making this concept a reality. Two women can raise healthy, smart, and loving children just as a man and woman can. We are not less than and we deserve to have companies that cater to us and our need. We don’t dwell on things like what sets us apart from others. We’re just adamant about bringing awareness to our community and partnering with others who intend to do the same.

We feel transparency, growing, learning and perseverance are most vital to our success.
