Meet Sarah Chatel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Chatel.

Sarah has lived, worked and raised her family in the Atlanta area for the last 40+ years making her uniquely suited to help families with their Atlanta Home Journey.

Her career in Real Estate began in the 2011 down market. Since then, she has consistently been in the top 10% of agents with the Atlanta Realtors Association and her sales have exceeded $60 million in that short period of time giving her lifetime status with the Atlanta Realtors Association.

Originally from Sanford, FL, Sarah and her husband, Peter, live in Morningside with their two dogs, Emma and Cody. She graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC with a BA in Religious Studies.

Sarah is active in the community with a variety of organizations including Alliance Theatre Advisory Board, Midtown Rotary Club of Atlanta as well as Morningside Presbyterian. In addition, Sarah has raised $114,000 for Dancing with the Stars Atlanta Alzheimer’s. Finally, she is exceptionally passionate about Habitat for Humanity, where she and her Chatel Group team have donated and helped build 14 homes in the past four years.

Has it been a smooth road?
Chatel Group, formerly Distinctive Atlanta Homes, had a team of 8 at one point which included a crackerjack Director of Operations. Team members moved, and the Director of Operations got transferred to LA so I ultimately decided to streamline my operation. We now have a Lead Listing Specialist (me), A Lead Buyer Specialist, Lisa Black, Listing Marketing Admin, a Social Media Specialist, Aimee Sherlock and a Contract to Close virtual person, Brandi Williams through The Churchwell Group.

Running a smaller team without a Director of Operations had some getting used to. I didn’t realize until Lauren was gone how much she did behind the scenes. Now we try to divide the workload.

Please tell us about your business.
Our partnership with Atlanta Habitat through Giveback Homes* is the one thing that sets us apart from our peers. My Buyer’s Agent and I donate a portion of each of our commission checks to Habitat. Over the past four years, we have helped build 14 homes and donated over $80,000. In 2019 Modern Luxury Magazine awarded me the title of Most Philanthropic Agent in Atlanta and I was honored by the Atlanta Realtors Association last Dec 2019 with the Good Neighbor Award for all the philanthropic work I’ve done. *www.givebackhomes.com

2019 also found me dancing the Tango with a professional dance partner in Dancing Stars Atlanta for Alzheimer’s where I raised over $115,000 for research and awareness of the disease. I came in 2nd in the dancing portion (out of 12 others) and 2nd in fundraising. In 2020 I will be the Gala Chair for Dancing Stars Atlanta Alzheimer’s event with a goal for the event of raising one million dollars.

As far as a specialty in my business, I have a discerning eye as well as vetted vendors who help me with the requirements to move a house from on the market to sell quickly!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the growing number of walkable and accessible neighborhoods in Atlanta. Having lived here for over 40 years, I have seen it grow into a vibrant city. The food scene is unbelievable and is garnering a great reputation across the country. My husband and I are Patrons of Shepherd Spinal Center, Atlanta Botanical Gardens  and Atlanta History Center and are also members of the Midtown Rotary Club. We love to be able to give back to a city that has done so much for us.

Traffic continues to be the #1 thing people complain about in Atlanta. My hopes and dreams for the city include a workable mass transit system in keeping with other major cities.
