Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Hurd.
Sarah , please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I got to where I am today by reading Matthew 25: 35,36,40 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, ye took me in:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me .…Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
I have always had a heart to help others even as a young person. My mom would send me and my sister to spend the night with her friends who were widows to ensure that they were not alone. Outreach and servanthood have always been strong points in my life.
I gave birth to Birthing Vision Ministries in 2006 with the mission to empower individuals to reach their highest potential through transformative training and teaching. I believe that everyone has the possibility and capability to master the plan God has set for their life. My “Take What You Got” attitude caused to me to go back to school and get a degree in Biblical Education so that I would be better equipped to teach and train others. This was the springboard to being a Christian college professor where I now serve as the site president for North Carolina Theological Seminary-Decatur, GA campus
For 15 years my husband Bobby Hurd had a Gospel Music Show on WATC TV 57 Atlanta. In 2010 he encouraged me to come on and share the Gospel with his audience. I served with him for three years before he passed away. The pull was there to continue the work Bobby had started of Information, Inspiration and Great Gospel Music. So out of the ashes of death Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd was born. August 4, 2020 we celebrated seven years on television.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy.
Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road on this journey has not been without strains, stresses and struggles. Our biggest challenge was maintaining the underwriting base Bobby had secured for those 15 years. One by one all of the supporters left with the most faithful one leaving on last year. What I am learning is that sometimes your change needs to change. But God has been our Sustainer. Isaiah 66:9 Living Bible 9 Shall I bring to the point of birth and then not deliver? asks the Lord your God. No! Never! I had to trust God’s Word with this baby.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Birthing Vision Ministries, Inc – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd is unique in that we reach out in the community every Sunday morning with Information, Inspiration and Great Gospel Music. Information: we share beneficial information on outreach activities and what is happening in the community. Inspiration: each week we have a guest speaker who shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ where the Unmatched Love and Unmeasured Grace are demonstrated- Great Gospel Music: we reach back and get some old school Gospel Quartet Music along with some Contemporary Gospel Music to reach our audience that span from young to seasoned seniors. We like to say each week we get you up and get you going on Sunday morning.
The Blessing comes when I get the calls on Sunday morning sharing with me what the show was to them. They were going through something and the Word spoken or song played was just what they needed to get their deliverance. I am humbled that many call in weekly for prayer. I have even received letters from ladies at Arrendelle State Prison and each week I give them a shout out on the show. I am truly honored when I meet my Time in the Word family in the grocery stores and they express how many years they’ve been watching (when Bobby started) and how the show is a great way to start their Sunday morning. My heart melts when I hear from those in the hospital, those bedridden in the home or nursing homes who are so appreciative for the program because it’s church for them. Many who view Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd are struggling with life issues, addictions and just need a word of encouragement and prayer. I have one young lady who calls periodically to do a check in. She wants to let me know how long she has been sober and wants prayer to stay clean. It’s not about performance here on Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd but it’s all about His Presence. I am Blessed to be a tool in the Master’s Hand.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to increase in other Gospel markets for Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd. I am grateful to have a weekly encore on Wednesday nights 10pm on TV 57 of the Sunday show. We are in need of more underwriters and partners for Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd. I say weekly “If God has given you this ministry to support, then just go on and obey God.”
We are excited about our 8th Annual Let Your Heart Beat Again Conference 2021. It was birthed in 2014 as I was approaching Valentine’s Day for the first time as a single lady in47 years with no one to bring me flowers or candy. I decided to reach beyond my pain of loss to other widows experiencing the loss of a spouse for the first time. We expanded the conference to include others whose hearts were broken because of sickness, divorce, humiliation, embarrassment, betrayal, infidelity – and the list goes on. My mission was to assure the ladies and gentlemen that we were not alone nor were our lives over, but God has a plan for us and we could not be pitiful and powerful at the same time. I give God the Glory for the growth of this conference as it now hosted annually at a hotel.
Next year I will release my book under the same title with several stories of people growing from struggle to strength.
I am also putting the finishing touches on my second publication. This book is dedicated to single women who want to be loved and not tricked. It is a great tool of straight talk and encouragement for the young woman as well as the seasoned woman and should be available in the fall.
I am truly excited for the Biblical virtual classes for North Carolina Theological Seminary- Decatur campus 2020-2021. We would love to have you come and explore the Bible with us.
This is my close each week on Time in the Word with Sarah Hurd “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, now think about this. If you and I loved one another like God loves us, oh man what a wonderful world this would be”
