Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Joyner.
Shawn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a lover of live music and always dreamed of hosting major concerts. I was really motivated after hearing a sermon by my pastor, Anthony Murray, titled DOMINATE! In his sermon, he said there are some people who have dreamed something that they think is bigger than they can accomplish but I command you to step out and DOMINATE your goals and dreams. In May 2016, I went on to host my first major concert in Atlanta featuring Tweet. In the next several years, I went on to host several other concerts featuring Angie Stone, B Slade, Avery Sunshine and Ricky Dillard & New G. Although the concerts were well attended, I was constantly losing money. In April 2018, I decided to re-brand my business model and start working local Independent Artist. I started Groove lounge which is a monthly live music event featuring some of the hottest Independent Artists in Atlanta and around the country. The first several Groove Lounge Shows was initially held at Suite Lounge. Due to overcapacity shows, we decided to move to Revel in West Midtown in September 2018. Some of the Singers who have graced the Groove Lounge stage include KeKe Wyatt, Syleena Johnson, B Slade, Cherelle and Tweet.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not always been a smooth road. Some of my challenges has actually been a blessing. I remember my first show at Revel was sold out and some of the guests had to stand up during the show. Unfortunately, this caused some people to be upset because they were not used to the instant increase in attendees.

Shawn Joyner Presents is a company that puts on live music events across the country. I am honored to host one of the largest monthly live music events in the country called Groove Lounge. What sets Groove Lounge apart is the AMAZING talent we have and the diverse audience. The show is energetic and a lot of fun.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for Groove Lounge is take it on tour and TV. I am in talks with getting sponsors. I have already have two sponsors that have tentatively agreed to come aboard.
