Today we’d like to introduce you to Shereena Harvey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shereena. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up overseas as a military kid, my father always recorded and took pictures of everything we did. I grew a major passion for broadcasting and photography. Over time I was able to complete a large amount of video and photography components for work and school.
Many friends and family needed pictures taken, but did not know anyone that could complete it for them, or the rates were out of their budget. My goal has always been to be a blessing to others. By following my passion and purpose in life, I realized that I could utilize my skill set to help others.
When my business first began, I focused on using word of mouth advertising. I had the opportunity to partner with Kaycia Rhone Events, which provided me with tons of networking and a variety of hands-on experience. I enjoy the idea of not having tons of rules with my photography.
Instead of just shooting in a studio, I strive one exploring the city to find new locations to shoot at. I believe this concept has truly set me apart from the traditional style of photography, and positively enhanced my business.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting my own business was not as easy as I thought it would be. From administrative work, purchasing equipment, and more, I believe every rough encounter has been able to show growth in my personal life and business.
One of the biggest struggles has been purchasing new equipment. With a strategic budget and even birthday gifts, I have been able to make some desired purchases. I always stay positive knowing that the situation will have the best conclusion.

Hey Reena-Jay Photography started with the simple goal of helping others. From capturing photos and video footage of a wedding, to a local city festival, I am proud that I have been given the platform to allow others to look back amazing memories. While starting with photography I recognized many people needed help with growing their personal businesses. I made the decision to expand in the areas of Videography, Business Marketing, Public Relations, Web Design and more.
What are you known providing a different style of photography, which I believe set me apart from others. I do not believe in many of the traditional rules when it comes to photography. Whether it is editing, filters, or angles, I believe that you have to follow your own creative strategy, and what the client really desires to have.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I always had an outgoing personality with a vivid imagination. Specific qualities that assisted me were that I have always been a hands-on and visual learner.
