Today we’d like to introduce you to Trini Viv.
Hi Trini, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I found my love for creating music through my laptop. I discovered Fl Studio on some random day in high school and right then, I realized that creating music is one of my favorite ways to express myself. I was raised listening to reggae and jazz with my family, so these genres have a heavy influence in my production. I love to focus on lush melodies and basslines accompanied by simple, groovy drum patterns.
I’ve been producing and recording music for about four years now, and currently I am in the final stages of preparing the release of a new project, “Rhythm & Rage” (released on April 21, 2023). This project will showcase my funky, synthetic hiphop sound with recordings by my fellow artist, Eli616.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an entirely smooth road. There are always times when motivation is low, but to overcome that I always tell myself that there is always more to learn and always something to get better at. A big struggle for me along the way has been identifying my true goals and initiating plans for these goals. However, I feel like the more immersed I become in the music industry, the more opportunities I have to figure out what I love most about music and how to make that a successful business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in and am known locally for my music production. I enjoy making beats/instrumentals and engineering other recording artists over my beats. In terms of what sets me apart, I feel like I have a distinct groove within my production; I don’t depend on quantization, rather I hear out the rhythm myself and program sounds in wherever I enjoy them most.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
“Welcome to the Jungle” by Jim Klein and “Basic Live Sound Reinforcement” by Biederman and Pattison have been the books that I rely on the most for knowledge of the world of audio and music business as of recently.
