Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Braxton
Hi Evelyn , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been one of faith, resilience, and passion. Many people know me as the matriarch of the Braxton family, but before anything else, I was a mother, a cook, and an entrepreneur at heart. Cooking has always been a huge part of my life—it’s how I show love, bring people together, and express my creativity.
Over the years, I’ve built businesses that reflect my passions, from my catering and dessert brand, Ms. E’s Treats, to my work in entertainment. With the success of Cooking with Logan, my YouTube series with my grandson, I’ve been able to share my love for cooking with an even wider audience. I’ve also recently partnered with Eleven86 Water as a brand ambassador, which aligns with my belief in wellness and quality products.
It hasn’t always been easy—there have been challenges along the way—but I’ve always leaned on my faith, my family, and my determination. Today, I’m blessed to be in a position where I can continue building, inspiring, and creating. My goal is to leave a legacy that my children and grandchildren can be proud of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No road worth traveling is ever completely smooth. My journey has had its fair share of challenges, but I believe every obstacle has shaped me into the woman I am today.
As a mother raising six children, there were times when balancing family and personal goals felt overwhelming. I had to make sacrifices, and there were moments of uncertainty, but my faith always carried me through. In business, especially as a Black woman entrepreneur, I’ve faced hurdles in getting the right opportunities and resources to grow my brands. It takes patience, persistence, and surrounding yourself with the right people who believe in your vision.
I’ve also had to navigate personal losses and public challenges, but through it all, I’ve remained steadfast in my purpose. I always say, ‘storms don’t last always,’ and that mindset has kept me pushing forward. Every struggle has been a stepping stone, and I’m grateful for the lessons they’ve taught me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At my core, I’m a nurturer, and that shines through in everything I do—whether it’s cooking, mentoring, or building businesses. I’m best known for my love of food, and that’s why I created Ms. E’s Treats, a brand that brings homemade, heartfelt desserts to people who appreciate good, quality sweets. I also share my passion for cooking through Cooking with Logan, my YouTube series with my grandson, where we create delicious meals and share family traditions.
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t do anything I don’t believe in. Everything I put my name on comes from a place of passion, faith, and real-life experience. I’m most proud of the legacy I’m building—not just in business, but in my family. Seeing my children and grandchildren succeed, knowing that I’ve instilled strong values in them, is my greatest achievement.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe risk is a necessary part of growth. You can’t achieve greatness without stepping out of your comfort zone. Every major blessing in my life has come from taking a leap of faith—whether it was raising a large family, starting my own businesses, or putting myself out there in ways I never imagined.
One of the biggest risks I took was launching Ms. E’s Treats. Entering the food business is no small task, especially in a competitive industry. There was uncertainty—Would people love my desserts? Would it be successful? But I trusted my passion and my experience, and I took that step. Another risk was embracing the digital space with Cooking with Logan. I wasn’t sure how people would respond to me in that way, but it turned out to be a beautiful opportunity to connect with even more people.
I’ve learned that taking risks doesn’t mean acting without thought—it means having faith in your vision and being willing to do the work. Not every risk leads to immediate success, but every risk leads to growth. And for me, that’s always worth it.
