Rising Stars: Meet Meredith Minkin of Decatur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meredith Minkin

Hi Meredith, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The business started in 2008 in Inman Park.
I taught classes in a parking lot and did in-home lessons.
I was able to rent space in Inman Park for several years.
Then the property was sold and the business moved to W. Midtown, near Georgia Tech.
We moved to Decatur in 2016 after I bought a warehouse.
We have grown from 2 employees to 15 employees over the years.
All of our trainers are certified and credentialed with years of training experience.
We serve all of the Metro-Area, Georgia, and we meet with clients virtually all over the world!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We are extremely fortunate (and grateful) to have a lot of client referrals.
We have also formed close relationships with various dog rescues, veterinarian practices and daycares.
We are also blessed to have a lots of wonderful clients who have grown with us over the years.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in dealing with problematic dogs who have either human and/or dog aggression issues.
We also specialize in reactivity, separation anxiety, and other fears and phobias.
We work with puppies and adult dogs who need basic manners or life skills.
We also train service dogs for mobility assistance, psychiatric service dog work, autism, hearing dogs, and heart rate alert.
We also teach specialize in performance dog sports like nose work, dock diving, barn hunt, and agility.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Education is an important part of this dynamic and evolving industry.
You need to keep up with the science of animal learning.
