Rising Stars: Meet Tennille Baptiste of Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tennille Baptiste

Hi Tennille, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I’m Tennille, a proud Trinidadian who began my journey in the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago, where I grew up before my family and I made a big move when I was 12 years old. We left Trinidad and relocated to New York City, where I attended middle school and high school, before making my way to Virginia where I attended TCC then back to NY and eventually settling in Atlanta where I finished my degree. I’ve called Atlanta home for over 18 years, and I absolutely love it here. In my professional life, I’ve had a fun and diverse career—working in insurance, starting my own insurance company, and diving into real estate. I’ve also had the privilege of partnering with a prominent basketball player to start a foundation. Along the way, I’ve taken the stage as a host and emcee for major events, and one of my proudest accomplishments is starting my podcast, B*tch You Lucky, a few years ago, where I share stories and insights on navigating life’s challenges with grace and grit. I’m a go-getter, and hard work is at the core of everything I do. Family is my foundation—I’m a proud mother and have been married to my wonderful husband for nearly 11 years. Every day, I’m grateful for the life I’ve built, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Moving to a new country at 12 years old was one of the hardest experiences of my life. Leaving behind the familiarity of Trinidad and Tobago and stepping into the fast-paced world of New York City was overwhelming.

I struggled to adapt—facing cultural differences, trying to fit in, and dealing with the loneliness of being in a new place. The pressure to adjust while holding on to my identity was a constant battle.

On top of that, I faced my own mental health struggles. Anxiety, self-doubt, and the weight of expectations often made me question my path.

There were moments when I felt lost, but I refused to stay in that space.

I learned to embrace my journey, find my voice, and turn my struggles into strength. Every challenge shaped me into the woman I am today—resilient, driven, and unbreakable.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve always been an overachiever, refusing to let challenges hold me back. Through resilience and hard work, I not only built a successful career in insurance but was also recognized as one of the top agents in Nationwide Insurance, with my name featured on the NASDAQ board in Times Square.

Beyond business, I started d a foundation with a prominent basketball player, with hopes of using my platform to give back and uplift others.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The insurance industry will see major shifts in the next five years:

AI & Automation: Faster underwriting, claims processing, and customer service through AI-driven systems.
Personalized Policies: Growth in usage-based insurance (UBI) using telematics and wearables.
Embedded Insurance: Seamless coverage integrated into everyday purchases.
Cyber Insurance Boom: Rising demand for protection against cyber threats.
Climate Impact: More focus on climate risk and sustainable insurance solutions.
