Today we’d like to introduce you to Tessa Cain
Hi Tessa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
About Me—I was adopted at an early age, and my upbringing played a significant role in shaping who I am today. Growing up, I was always drawn to art—whether it was drawing, dancing, watching my dad play instruments to even playing them myself, and many more. I was always encouraged to explore different forms of expression, which helped me develop a deep appreciation for the beauty of self-expression. Fashion, in particular, became a way for me to communicate who I was and how I felt, even before I had the words for it. It felt like an extension of my creativity, a way to blend my love for art with my need to express myself in the world. My experiences in the arts taught me to appreciate detail, movement, and individuality—qualities that I now channel through fashion. I stayed dedicated to honing my skills, constantly pushing myself to improve. My journey involved doing numerous photo shoots and building relationships with brands, which ultimately helped me get to where I am today. It’s been a journey of staying consistent, following my passions, and making meaningful connections along the way. It’s been a powerful tool for me to not only reflect my identity but also to share my story with the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been completely smooth, but I’ve learned a lot along the way. One of the biggest lessons I’ve taken from my journey is that you have to be your own motivation. There were times when support from those around me wasn’t as strong as I had hoped, but I realized that staying consistent with my goals and believing in myself was key. Even if the people around you don’t fully understand or support your vision, you’ll eventually find your crowd—people who align with your passion and drive. Keeping that focus on my own growth has been crucial in getting through the tough moments. My friend Chris has been a huge source of motivation in my creative journey. We share a deep love for fashion, and his energy and passion for the craft constantly push me to think bigger and explore new ideas. We often bounce ideas off each other, and his perspective always challenges me to step outside of my comfort zone. His drive to constantly innovate inspires me to keep creating, whether it’s experimenting with new styles or pushing the boundaries of my own designs. Having someone who shares that same passion and enthusiasm makes the process even more exciting, and it reminds me that there’s always room to grow and evolve in this industry. My sister Tamar and my bestfriend Courtney have also helped me strive for creativity which I have used along the way to shape my visons.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a upcoming model in Atlanta, GA. Within this short period I have had some incredible experiences that have really shaped my journey in fashion. One standout moment was doing a brand photoshoot with @wishatl for the brand ERL, where I got to showcase the brand’s unique aesthetic while learning more about the creative process behind a photoshoot. I also had the opportunity to walk in a fashion show in Atlanta, which was such an energizing experience, being part of such a dynamic and talented community. Another major highlight was walking the runway for @themodelexperience in Los Angeles, California during LA Fashion Week, which gave me the chance to connect with industry professionals and experience the magic of a high-profile runway show. Each of these experiences has not only strengthened my passion for fashion but also deepened my understanding of the industry’s exciting possibilities and for that I would say all of them are moments I am very proud of. What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with persistence. From a young age, I was always eager to learn more about the fashion industry and what makes everyone authentic. What really differentiates me is how I’ve stayed consistent and driven, no matter the obstacles. I’ve learned that being your own motivation is essential. Not everyone around you may understand or support your journey, but staying true to yourself and continuing to work toward your goals will eventually attract the right people and opportunities. It’s this blend of passion, consistency, and self-belief that I believe truly sets me apart.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a curious and creative person. I had a lot of interests, especially in the arts. I was the type of kid who always had something to do—I thank my parents for that. I was naturally drawn to anything that allowed me to express myself. I was also pretty independent and driven, even as a child. I didn’t need much external validation to keep going; I just had this inner motivation to pursue what I loved. I was quiet in some ways but also very passionate when it came to the things that mattered to me. It was clear early on that I wanted to carve my own path, and I stayed focused on that, no matter what.
