Rising Stars: Meet The Cerafina of Peachtree Corners

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Cerafina

Hi The, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Cerafina Candles was created during the peak of the COVID pandemic. As a healthcare worker during that time, my stress levels were high. I started to create candles as a way to cope. Lighting a candle, for me, is not just a way to help center my soul, but also a way to honor my heritage. In my Latino culture, candles have various meanings including prayer, connection to the spiritual, symbolism of faith, religious ceremonies, remembrance of our ancestors, and thanksgiving for blessings. During times of anxiety, these traditions became a refuge for me. I want to remind others of the importance of honoring themselves through the simple act of slowing down and lighting a candle.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business definitely has its struggles. The demand for social presence such as engaging in social media and networking, can be a little daunting and overwhelming. In addition, you are constantly learning as you go- from managing inventory, understanding finances, and marketing. I am fortunate to have found other small business owners that have guided me along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Cerafina, we create clean candles that are eco-friendly. We have meticulously selected each element of our candle to become a more earth friendly, sustainable brand. Our wooden wicks are clean burning, with a gentle crackle reminiscent of a cozy wood burning fireplace. They are sustainably sourced from FSC certified wood, made in US. Our fragrances contain essential oils, they are cruelty-free, phthalate-free, and non-toxic. Each scent is subtle, and not overpowering. We’ve selected virgin coconut soy wax for use in our candles. It is sustainable, biodegradable, has a slower/clean burn and non-toxic. Made in US, paraben free, phthalate free. In addition, its cruelty-free, without any animal products or derivatives.

Seven percent of our profits a donated to Girls on The Run Atlanta, a local program building social, physical and emotional skills in girls while encouraging healthy habits.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best part of the city is our diverse and vibrant community. Whether it’s the international markets, Light up the Glow Run, a movie on the lawn at the Town Center, or lighting the Christmas Tree at the Forum, its true celebration of our multicultural community coming together.
