Today we’d like to introduce you to Wednesday Holmes.
Hi Wednesday, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Sure! My story really begins in the inner city of Buffalo, NY, where I was born and raised. Life didn’t come easy. I was a teenage mother, a high school dropout, and later divorced. By most standards, I fit every “statistic.” But God had a bigger plan for my life. Through faith, perseverance, and a lot of grace, I turned what was meant to break me into the very thing that built me.
My journey started in the kitchen. As a self taught baker, baking was my therapy. I found peace and purpose in creating, and before long, that love for pastry turned into a career as a pastry chef. From there, my creativity continued to expand. I started designing clothing that spoke to strength and self-expression, writing books that spoke to healing and rebirth, and speaking to women about faith, courage, and finding themselves again after life’s hardest hits.
All of those paths eventually led me to create The Everything Wednesday Magazine, a project that represents everything I am and everything I love. It’s a space that blends faith, art, advocacy, storytelling, and empowerment. It’s more than a magazine. It’s my life’s work in print.
Today, I’m a proud mother of three, a loving Yonni to two grands with one on the way, and a woman who wears many crowns with humility. Every role I play, chef, designer, author, speaker, and breast cancer advocate, connects back to one mission: to inspire, encourage, and remind women that no matter what life throws at you, with faith and purpose, you can rise from anything.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, it’s been anything but a smooth road. My journey has been filled with challenges, lessons, and moments that tested every ounce of my faith and strength. Growing up in the inner city of Buffalo, NY, I faced hardships early on. I became a teenage mother, dropped out of high school, went through a divorce, lost my brother, uncle, & numerous friends to homicide, & betrayal. I had to learn to rebuild from the ground up more than once.
There were times I questioned my worth, my purpose, and even my ability to keep going. But every obstacle pushed me closer to God and revealed the strength He placed inside of me. From working long hours as a pastry chef, to starting businesses with little to no resources, to battling breast cancer and still showing up with purpose, it’s all been a journey of perseverance and grace.
The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been necessary. Every struggle shaped me, refined me, and prepared me for the woman I am today. And for that, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do a little bit of everything, because I’ve always believed that creativity has no limits. I’m a pastry chef, clothing designer, author, speaker, artist, breast cancer advocate, and the founder and editor-in-chief of The Everything Wednesday Magazine. Everything I create comes from a place of purpose and passion, whether it’s baking something beautiful, designing something bold, or writing words that heal and inspire.
What I’m most proud of is that everything I’ve built was birthed out of faith, perseverance, and authenticity. Nothing was handed to me. Every door that opened, God opened. Every vision I’ve brought to life came from a place of obedience and purpose. The Everything Wednesday Magazine is especially close to my heart because it represents every part of who I am, the chef, the mother, the writer, the warrior, the survivor, and the woman who refuses to quit.
I’m best known as “the cookie or cake lady”, as well as a go getter. I’m very often asked “what don’t you do?” & my answer is always “stay still”.
What sets me apart is that I lead with heart and transparency. I don’t hide my scars; I use them to tell my story. As a breast cancer survivor and advocate, I use my voice to empower other women to fight, to heal, and to believe that there is life after diagnosis. My work isn’t just about talent; it’s about transformation, impact, and faith. And that’s what makes it & me special & alluring.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I do almost everything that I do from my phone lol, my friends often make fun of the fact that I have two laptops yet I still create 98% of everything I do via my phone.
That I’ve always wanted to be a therapist & I consider going back to school to become one often.
