Rising Stars: Meet Zahra Hill of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zahra Hill.

Hi Zahra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve loved clothes and fashion for as long as I can remember. At one point I thought I wanted to be a designer. I had a whole Project Runway designer kit with the sketchbook and wooden figure. Eventually I decided designing might not be for me but I still had a love for everything fashion. I started creating content a little over two years ago after YEARS of everyone around me constantly telling me to give it a real chance. Now, here I am with 6.2k followers on TikTok working with both big and small brands.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth? Not at all. I’m a perfectionist but also very easily discouraged which sometimes is my downfall. Not seeing the engagement that I wanted at first definitely caused me to stop posting quite a few times already. I had to stop looking at the views, likes and comments as a measurement of how good or bad my content was.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do fashion content on TikTok and Instagram, but mostly TikTok.

I would say that I’m most proud of stepping outside of my comfort zone and actually giving this whole content creation thing a real chance.

Something that sets me apart from others is that I don’t try to keep up with what’s “trendy” or “in style”. I wear what I like and others just so happen to like it too.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To keep going. You will eventually see your hard work pay off.
