Meet Andrea Quiroz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Quiroz.

Andrea, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I go by Dre! I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, so my first language is Spanish. My family and I migrated to the U.S.A. when I was 12 years old, and we moved to tourist central, Orlando, Florida. I come from a line of artists, my grandmother is a brilliant painter and my father is a musician.

My passion for art, fashion, branding, and people heavily influences my work as a photographer– my goal is to capture true emotions and raw colors. My Latino upbringing has helped me add my own style to the world of photography. I’m a work in progress, as an artist and a person, I love learning and I believe I grow by surrounding myself with people who are better than me. I have recently gotten into beauty photography and retouching my own work and I’m thoroughly enjoying the process. The beauty and fashion world, drive my passion. I love capturing people and diversity. My goal is to empower women and make people feel beautiful in their own skin. Inclusion and empowerment drive my elegant style of work. I currently attend the University of Central Florida and I’m embarking in my last semester of a Bachelor of Science in Human Communication, with high hopes of working on a creative team in an advertising agency. Yes, us creatives also have day-jobs… social media likes to trick people into thinking that all young creative entrepreneurs have to quit their day job to thrive and “make moves”… false.

I’m a freelance photographer and a marketing professional, super excited to work on both my professional photography career and my career in advertising. I personally think they go hand-in-hand. I chose to spend my last semester of undergrad interning at Dalton agency in Atlanta, and my goal is to stay an Atlanta resident and land a job in the city by 2020. Through my assertiveness and attention to detail, I’ve been able to bring my freelance photography career to success. And I plan on expanding my network and portfolio with all of the creative opportunities Atlanta has to offer.

Can you give our readers some background on your work?
I love capturing people, in general, but I specialize in fashion, beauty editorial photography, and weddings. I’m known for the elegance in my portraiture and the color of my images. I’m very proud of my growth, I love seeing how my work has evolved over the years. It has grown with me and I believe that without my photography, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. The fact that I am a Latina woman gives me a unique edge that sets me apart from other artists. My genuine goal to accurately represent my subject and exhibit them in the best light makes me different. I’m not just a person who loves to photograph, I’m an artist.
