Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Clements.
Christine, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve been interested in photography and the arts since as long as I can remember. After graduating high school I went on a trip to Italy and in my group was a photographer/art teacher who was willing to teach me some things during that trip. I fell in love with capturing everything around me. I knew straight away this was my calling. I promptly saved up and focused all my efforts on growing my photography business. I started with weddings but as I got married and had kids of my own, my heart shifted towards family and babies. I know how important this time is and how quickly it goes by. Looking back on images of my growing children is so important to me and I wanted to offer that service to others. I love capturing real, authentic lifestyle images of families and also studio posed newborn portraits. Nothing makes me happier than giving families images they can cherish and hold on to for generations.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My photography is all about celebrating family life. Celebrating life. Capturing joy. We all know life isn’t easy and raising small children is incredibly challenging, but I think it’s important to stop and capture moments of joy in your family. These images are a reminder to me of what life is all about…relationships, family, love. My photography business offers various services for Atlanta area families, I do outdoor family sessions where I aim to capture soft light, natural poses, and real moments. Lifestyle family session are in my clients homes, these sessions are so special because I’m able to capture intimate moments with your kids and your family in your home environment, the heart of your family life. I also have a home studio in Alpharetta that I dedicate to newborn photography sessions. These sessions are focused all on the baby and getting lots of adorable squishy photos of babies while they are still so tiny!! In my studio I also do milestone session to capture those babies as they grow! So you can see everything I do here is for families and I’m here to serve.
Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
I think life has become harder for artists with the advancement in technology. People don’t always recognize the value of hiring a professional to take family photos because they can easily capture a photo on their phone. It’s one of those things, you won’t regret getting your photos taken, but you WILL regret not doing it down the road. Penny pinching is not worth it in this case because once the moment is gone, you can’t get it back! I think websites like Voyage Atlanta, seeking out and featuring artists in the area in an incredible favor to the community of artists. More website highlighting local artists will definitely help us and provide value to our industry as a whole. Without the arts, life would be pretty boring, don’t you think?
