Art & Life with Dennis Morton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis Morton.

Dennis, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I started getting into photography with my brother Gerald about five years ago. We made some money one night shooting a bike party and later that night he said to me “We could have made double, but you don’t have a camera”. After two months of decision making, I finally got one and hadn’t stopped since. Photography has been a major outlet for me, from meeting new people, traveling to places I’ve never been before, to seeing things I thought I’d never see. Since I’ve been in the Atlanta area, I have received a huge amount of support from a group of photographers called “CrewThick” as well as some individual supporters like Jim Lacy, and Greg Cee.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I would like to consider my artwork to be the rich, exciting, and dark. I enjoy creating images that reach out and touch you, bring back some type of nostalgia, or put a huge smile on your face. My inspiration is my daughter as well as my friends. When I post a pic, and she texted me saying “Daddy that’s Fye” it makes it all worth it. I would like for people to take “growth and inspiration” out of my images. Mainly because I started getting into photography late in my life and for people who take photography seriously at a young age they have the ability to experience the world at an early and be happy doing it. When it comes to my artwork I would like for people to know that I put my blood, sweat, and tears into all my images (as far as my skill set) and I take a lot of pride in my images. The images I select to post on any social media platform are a direct representation of myself as a photographer and dedication to my craft.

In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
One of the biggest challenges facing artist today is being creative. It’s easy to shoot a similar image of something that’s already been done. The hard part is creating the image first.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
People can view my wide variety of artwork from Portraits, Cityscapes, and Sports Photography on my website at www.DennisMortonPhotos.com. If you would like to support me go to my online store called “Shoot Everything” located on my website and select from my wide selection of photography inspired clothing.
