Today we’d like to introduce you to Gary Jordan.
Gary, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve been on a never-ending journey to discover myself as an artistic individual. Recently, I’ve realized my entire life has been a journey to find myself as a creator. A search for my own voice as an artist. A search for the miraculous in everyday life. Just looking for the spark that lights my creativity. A nonstop search for all things beautiful and a means to express that beauty on my own terms. I’m a lover of art. I love all art equally, so I’ve found myself dabbling in all mediums. Over the years, I’ve mostly dedicated myself to discovering and developing other artists. Helping identify their strengths and passions and helping them express themselves via their own artistic language. I guess I felt that in helping them I’d also be helping discover myself. I’m coming to the realization that I’ve been taking a round-about approach and have recently been lending my focus more to my own creative growth and development. Searching more inward for inspiration and outward for perspective.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a visual person. I think visually, so even in everyday verbal conversation I find myself trying to explain things from a visual perspective. I’m currently working in the realm of Film/Tv. I’m working on telling stories of self-discovery, growth, and self-reflection. I’m excited about the world of Film/Tv because this medium affords you the perfect opportunity to create a world people may have only seen in their dreams. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then a movie is worth a 1 million. Every creative person has a story to tell and there countless men, women, and children waiting for those stories to be told. These stories shape lives for generations. It’s important to me that I do my part in developing the creativity that sparks exponential growth in mankind.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
I think the role of the artist has always been the same and will remain the same. Artists tell the world something about itself, it didn’t already know and/or didn’t want to know. Art shows people things within themselves they were unable to see. Art takes people beyond reality. Art gives people the means to express themselves. Art helps people discover themselves in others. The effect the world has on us, we’re able to reciprocate that via artistic expression.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
The work that I’m doing is ongoing… the best way for us to support each other as an artist is to continue to develop as artists. Continue to search for inspiration within yourself and others around you. Continue to share your stories of inspiration via our own artistic voice. Be brave and self-assured. Love what you do. Let the world be your muse. Work with your heart. This is how you support my work.
